My name is Alex. I live in Berlin, Germany, and I own a '06 Yamaha XVS1100 DragStar Classic. I figured out it's not that hard to work on your bike, but to do so one must understand what he does, how the parts come together, what's the no-no way, and so on. So, I work on my bike, and this is my project. I'm not a professional mechanic, I'm a hobbyist. I gather tips from the internet, manuals, and my (more experienced) friends.
Yamaha XVS1100 DragStar - inspecting bent front disc brake rotors - WeekendBikeRepair
I had a major pulsation on a brake lever while braking. It would correlate to the speed. Inspecting the brake disc runout here and concluding they were bent.
Ordered replacement from Metal Gear: metalgear.com.au/mgear-brake-disc-front-leftright-p-5199.html
Australia: www.metalgear.com.au
Germany: www.metalgear-shop.de
144,95 EUR a piece + brake pads.
Appreciate the comments with any idea on what bends the disc brakes (apart from an impact or similar). I have a suspicion that they are bent since after I had around 5000 km on the bike. I heart that uneven drag during the wheel spin sometimes.

Nice video, but always clean bolts with CRC brakecleen, the whole idea of loctite is to go on clean dry surfaces, with wd40 u are defeating the purpose by oiling bolts, of remaining tight and in place
я так и знал, руский акцентик то! а то "стартер клач реплейсмент"! бль
You did the best out of everyone! Thanks for your help! One thing to remember though, we all like to see the finished product/job work! Otherwise, nice job! Cheers!
That's a good video, but the resolution of the video is really blurry. It would've been an excellent if it was HD. (For seeing more clearly) Thank you for making it, though.
My brass bearing would not go go in I bought it new
My husband bought all the parts but the brass bearing wouldn’t get in place what is your opinion
i habe to replace my stator cover since the guy that totalled the bike before i got it to rebuild it, the gear shifter got rammed up into the cover and busted through.
Could You make video or tell me how to make one its looks cool to me lol
Please make us a vid of that bike running and starting up !! I really liked your vids !
For future reference i have seen those exact discs on alli express for 50usd a piece are you sure that company is making them in Germany and not simply buying from the aforementioned chinese company
Excellent video I have been served a lot of thanks for sharing your experience..
Hello. I'm also waiting for the replacement of the starter clutch. I watched your videos, and you would send me the pdf or jpeg of the manual you showed in the movie. Greetings from Poland.
So when I took my fly starter clutch out the 6 springs and dowels went flying, so I don't know how they go back in. did you do a video on the reinstall. BTW everything else is great, helped me out a lot. Thanks
hey good vid. I have the same problem on my bike. Did the discs change resolved your problem? thank you.
I love the video! Was nervous about the whole job, but after watching three times I am ready to tackle this. I missed the whole summer riding after buying the kit and placing it on the shelf. Here goes nothing...
Did you manage to do it?
If he can do it anybody can, lol
THANKS MAN.... THIS IS THE BEST VIEW ABOUT CLUTCH THAT I SEE!
а на русском слабо тоже самое?
Next time Simply Explain how you made the tool and show the actual procedure as this loses focus and I am trying to understand how much torque is needed to pull the basket - There is a bike for sale near me and the seller damaged the crank end with the wrong puller so I am gathering as much information as I can before I bid on it or if I bid on it
+Bruce Bosco Hopefully, there won't be next time for me to fix it again :) Well, torque spec for the rotor nut is 175 Nm, if I remember correctly. It requires a bit of heft in the hand. It's important that the puller is not skewed. Hitting the puller with a hammer also helps. I didn't, but I've seen other guys doing that.
Well yours is the best video of it I have found and I thank you but I would have liked to have seen that critical step
Thank you its very kind of you
Take the Spark Plugs out so to Achieve TDC is much easier without compression
+Bruce Bosco They were out.
My Bad then it just seemed like it should have turned easier
+Bruce Bosco Yeah, it does, but it is also very easy to pass the mark :) And then you need to start over.
thank you for the advice
"иди сюда, помоги" :-)
я думал меня переглючило ))
That's Incredible! salt chickens
what happened, couldn't find the next video
Still on my task list to put the video together. Already have all the slides, just need to narrate.
not so sure I would have drug the oil can across those bearings. but a very good video. thanks

Thanks! Still need to narrate the final part. Waiting for the cold to step back.
