@TheMotorsportMechanic I'm starting college soon and I'm doing my level 2 race mechanic course. Do have any advice for my journey into the world of being a race mechanic?
hey where did ya go hope not screaming Gaurd Gaurd behind bars man damit really enjoyed the content here
We need more content mate!!! I just started my mechanic career in gt4 and i love seeing the stuff in my goal with the lmp’s and the gt3’s! And how similar it is to my current job😁
Hi just curious. How did you become a motorsport mechanic and what qualifications did you have to get if any? I'm graduating high school next year and I'm super keen to get into the industry but I don't know if I need to get a degree or not. Thanks.
@@_clarkey right now it’s for an internship for my school, but my advise is just have a big mouth and talk to a bunch of smaller team at some trackday on your local race track, be polite and motivated, show dedication, and make sure they know your goal. Slowly work yourself up the rankes and the teams, and just overall be dedicated😁
@@lyamdekock9253 thank you
Just found your channel and working my way through your vids ! This is pure gold ! Absolutely love it. Keep up the good work.
What are you blurring on top of the gearbox?
Hi thanks a lot for this video, so could you explain the position of brake's front and rear on the disk for the best performance?
Who is Nobby and won`t he want his nuts back.
why have the videos slowed down?
how does one enter this profession?
3:23 that young lady should not be in the shop with her hair down like that 😳😳😳😳😳😳😳
Are you guys coming to Barcelona in a couple days? The car is still in the ELMS right?
Hasn't posted in months; they raced in ALMS too. Maybe no longer with the team. It's a shame if so. Really like this content.
@@Matt_C_N Thought maybe he was not posting during the off season, I hope he is still in motorsport the content was super interesting, to be able to see the mechanic of the car and explained from a mechanic point.
@@DrachenBlasen he's still with them. Saw him in a garage shot during the Barcelona race.
@@Matt_C_N Yeah I was at the race and saw him, he's still with them hopefully he will soon do new vlogs
could you show me how those hinges work on these lmp racecars? it has a kind of quick release i think from both sides but cant figure it out completely haha
What course do you study to be able to do this?great content!
one day i wana become a Race mechanic Hopfully :D
dumb question but why swap only left side tires? a bit odd considering the track runs counter clockwise. Or is it that there are more demanding right handers on the track?
So there is no video of the re build that would be cool
Ah dang
This is cool thanks for sharing
What model is that gearbox?
I am so glad to have found this channel. New sub for sure. Great content. Lots of toys I now need Question, wouldn’t it be easier to use a power bleeder on the brakes?
been searching for a channel like this, cant get enough of it. Perfect content
Hello, is a race car mechanic the same as an automotive mechanic in terms of education and how they fix and work on vehicles? But, racing mechanics being more geared to super vehicles and high performance engines? Like, do they do the same work? Can a race car mechanic do the same work as an automotive mechanic (gas mechanic and diesel mechanic) and work on auto vehicles? Because I am going to attend an institute here in my city and they offer race car mechanic, which I am greatly interested in, and automotive mechanics, diesel mechanics and industrial welding. thanx!
hello, can i ask, would you reccomend a 16 year old to go learn car mechanic with car electrician, work somewhere for a company as a mechanic for 3 years, and then try to sign up for race mechanic?
go find the nearest race team around you and ask to be their apprentice. it doesn't hurt to ask.
How did you became a race mechanic ?
Percussive Persuasion Device, as my dad always called them.
Once again a fantastic video. Hey man, have u ever being hit by a car on pitlane?
Whats the balls in those net bags that are in where the fuel cell is? EDIT: Ok never mind you answered it later on lol
Love a Fozzy sighting! Is he crew chief yet?
WTF a coffee cup helmet man 😅😅😅😅 Again another great insight. Always something new to follow like the engine change. Looking forward to the next one I assume coming from Spa.
Did you have to catch a plane that same morning? You can't of had much sleep, respect!!
I feel your pain on the wheel issues mate. Did ELMS as travelling fabby / tyre man with Virgo GT2 Ferrari 430, years ago, to old for the pit stop stuff !
15:19: Working until almost 2 AM. Being a racing mechanic is hard work!
big fan of the content! what study did you do to get to here?
8:41: It was interesting watching the choreography of the pitstop with only 3 men allowed over the wall and having to change 4 tires with only these 3.
Yea SPA cant wait also wish i could watch this team live these cats work so hard and seem to genuinelly have fun too, Thanks for sharing another peak into the dailys of a Baddass hotrod & and its gang of merry men working to get to the front, Between this Channel and Ricky at REPerformace u guys r my favorite funny talkin u tubers
I genuinly can't wait for next week! 4hrs of spa and finally to see the team in action again in person! Why can't it be september 24th already 😭
hiya im 14 right now and i want to be a race mechanic when im older, i just wanna ask how you got there because im not quite sure on what to do from when ive done my GCSE's ect
Best wishes young one & go getem and follow ur dreams Hotrods Rule thats the number 1 rule Hotrods
@@ldtenenoff okie dokie tysm!!
Not sure if this helps but I’ve just finished my GCSEs and I’m heading into my first year of college on Monday, I’m going to a college to do motorsport engineering starting at level 2. The course goes on for level 2 and 3 which are both one year long and then after that they offer level 4, 5 and 6 which are also a year long each. The college have had people gone through to level 6 and are now working in Formula 1, WEC and WRC etc, also helps if you have links as I’m lucky enough to have my dad who knows many mechanics in formula 1 and across loads of motorsports. Im really hoping I can make it far and pursue my passion and I hope you can too!
@@Mtbracing34 Thank you for the info ive looked into where i can go from sixth form but not many colleges so ill have to have a look at them also wishing you luck with your future in motorsport as well!!
Hello Jackie, you look nice ❤
now I want to see you install the windshield.
Brilliant video again. Is this brake work a day's work?
Half a day I would say to get it done 👍
Hell ya man more vids fer these awesome Machines,Pretty cool how well & somewat simplified brake system along with master saftey systems. The design and engineering on these Beasts is truly Auto Art to me, So again i say thank you fer sharing your Journey with us on some of the best racing machines on this rock we call Earth!!
Thanks a lot and will keep it coming 👍
Nice system that 4th Master Cylinder. I take it that an actual clutch plate or thrust bearing failure could still render the marshals (and car) proper stranded - speaking from the wonderful experience of limping an old car home once with a snapped clutch Cable 😕
Yes that would cause the system to not work for sure. Ahh yes old cars, will always give you them problems, I had a throttle cable snap on me before.
Thanks mate. Informative as always! Keep making them I will keep watching them!
Thanks, will do!
Apt timing... I'm just about to go at the brakes on my Gillard kart :) Two questions - how much is a that set up per corner and BTW how much is a ready to roll Oreca LMP2 ? Love your channel BTW - even nicer that that team's named after me :)
Ahh nice work, I'm not exactly sure on the exact price per corner but I would say for the whole brake setup for the car you would be around £20,000 The price of a lmp2 is cost capped at €483,000 and that doesn't include the engine which is leased and you cannot purchase and doesn't include the electronics package which is like ecus and stuff.
@@TheMotorsportMechanic Fantastic stuff... again, mega thanks for all you're doing here, the channel's brilliant !
I find it funny that the dust shield has so many bolts to hold it on... But they brake caliper itself only has 2 bolts!
Yeah I do see what you mean but I guess that's just the way it is 😂 some things do have more bolts than necessary that's for sure
That brake rebuild seems suprisingly easy and something even i could do! Despite being graduated as a mechanic i sucked at working on actual cars allthough the brakes weren't that difficult... Except drum brakes.
Yeah brake calipers are fairly simple and don't have a lot of components, yes drum brakes can be a pain especially when a spring goes flying and you've got to go find it 😂
Thanks for explaining the extra master cylinder. I never would have know that is what its function is. Love to know more of the electronics in the car in particular the dash and the numerous buttons that are present. Keep up the great work as just love the videos.
Thanks and yeah I can do a video about all the electronics and controls in the car
how does the extinguishing system work
I will explain that in a upcoming video for you 👍
Great video thanks
No worries glad you liked it
Why is it always hard to find reverse in a racecar?
For a marshal it is hard as they won't be able to reach the pedals not with shoes on that's for sure
