5 Reasons Why You SHOULD NOT HOMESCHOOL!!! 🤯

5 Reasons Why You SHOULD NOT HOMESCHOOL!!! At least these are not good reasons on jumping into homeschool. At the end of the day, I still believe homeschool is the best way to educate a child in most circumstances 💜 And I would encourage anyone currently unsure about homeschooling to pray and keep seeking information online and look for local homeschool communities. WHY WE PULLED OUR KIDS OUT OF PUBLIC SCHOOL! Traditional Christian Homemaker
I’ve always wanted to try notgrass’ 50 states. Thanks for showing the little of the inside. That was helpful. We also homeschool and have a channel and would love to be friends and connect. Just subscribed. Great videos! Looking forward to watching your kids’ favorite books. Those are some of my favorite videos.
Seventh grade is about the time your daughter should be learning all her literary devices. Knowing and understanding those literary devices will let her decode the “what was the point of this novel.” So for seventh grade, I highly recommend the novel Where the Red Fern Grows. (Don’t watch the movie version! There are two and both are terrible!) That novel contains everything a student would need to know to go on and understand real literature later in life. Foreshadowing, direct and indirect characterization, symbolism, flashback…. Some of that Jerry Spinelli stuff is good. I didn’t like Milkweed, but Crash is a good, fun read, and would show why it might be better to be home-schooled. And it could be time for some of those S.E. Hinton novels, starting with The Outsiders and then moving on to That Was then, this is Now, and Tex. Tex is her best novel. But since a character reappears from That Was Then, This is Now, in Tex, you might want to read the novels in the order she wrote them. It’s good to do some short stories at this point. “The Scarlet Ibis” is perfect for teaching symbolism. And I hope your daughter knows that The Lion, the Witch and the wardrobe is an allegory. Allegory is a really important literary device to know.
She has read Where the Red Fern Grows & The Outsiders.. such a good one. She’s familiar with the symbolisms in Lion Witch and the Wardrobe, we did a light study on C S Lewis and the creation of Narnia. I’m hoping to do a deeper study and writing assignments on it though. I think there is a lot to take away from it at every age. I don’t think I’ve heard of That was then, This is now, Tex series.. I’ll have to look into that.
@ good news! Read this after my second recommendation of that novel. If your daughter has read The Outsiders, then definitely follow up with That Was Then, This Is Now and Tex. Those are the next S.E. Hinton novels. Tex is fantastic. Then you could even try Rumble Fish-that book is easy to read but it is really difficult to determine what Hinton is getting at. Obviously, the fish are being used as symbols. Every kid I know loved reading Touching Spirit Bear.
What short stories and novel does the seventh grader read?
@@christinacascadilla4473 She loved the adventures of Huckleberry Finn and Little Women, she liked the adapted version of Oliver Twist so she’s starting the full version soon, she’s currently reading Wings of Fire and Hunger Games. We have a video up of some of the books she’s been going through including chapter books, short stories, and graphic novels. 😊
@ well, if your daughter made it through the real version of Huck Finn, and not some adapted version, she’s way ahead of the typical seventh grader because the dialect in that book makes it a difficult read and it’s more like an 11th grade novel.
She likes to read, she typically will read a few chapters and then talk to me and process what she read, what she thinks about what’s happening, what she thinks the author is saying, and asks questions on words or concepts she doesn’t understand. I’m trying to make critical thinking and analyzing a natural thing for them when they consume information.
@@RootedandResilientHomeschool I left another comment on the video where your daughter shows off all her books. As I said there, I highly recommend Where the Red Fern Grows for that seventh grade age. Make sure your daughter knows and can recognize the author’s use of literary devices. And I could tell that you are doing an excellent job raising your daughter and that she will grow up to be a good person. Also realize that once she hits what would be 9th grade, teaching her math and science is going to get a whole lot harder than what you are doing now.
I love homeschooling because I get to relearn some of the things that I thought I was bad at too. Like you said, we probably weren't taught that way we needed to be taught through the public schools.
Yes! It’s really eye opening and encouraging to know and teach that to my kids at an earlier age.
It's called Spiral learning. My kids are learning about Space too. This is the second time we have gone over Space. I think maybe I might split Space up, because we are getting tired of it. I do notice that Space seems to be covered every year up to High School. So, I think splitting it up might be good. I don't know, that is just a thought I had. I love book videos! I like to see what others are reading.
Yes spiral learning. I enjoy spiral learning sometimes but my daughter has a difficult time with too many concepts too fast in math. We’re probably going to have to take a break in space again too for the same reason you said. It gets tiring after a while so splitting it up is probably a good idea. I do try to add longer breaks between going back to the space books sometimes to help. I don’t want them to be in a place where they start to hate it. I love book videos too, I find so many new books to put on my list for my kids and for me 🩷
So i guess your the principal and guidance counselor to lol

What was her TH-cam channel. My daughter has been into Minecraft lately.
@Brewerhomeschool the channel she created is called @EuryPlayz, it’s a pink profile picture. She hasn’t uploaded any gaming videos yet. She’s exciting to start though! Is your daughter on the creative side too? I’ve seen some Minecraft civil engineering classes before, they look really neat 🙂
We did charlottes Web and my daughter loves it and we own last kids on earth. He may be interested in beryl grylls or ranger in time books. We have so many book series lol
Thanks for the suggestions! Bear Grylls is on our reading list, we love watching his series! I’ve never heard of Ranger in time, I’ll have to look into that! Thanks ☺️

Linked it in the description! I meant to go back to do that earlier, thanks for that reminder! ☺️
I’m new to your channel and we just recently started Learn Math Fast with my younger two and we really like it so far!
Hi Welcome! It’s such a neat system, are your children in their elementary years? I’m hoping it keeps working well for my daughter so she can start working on ACT prep when she needs to, but I think so far so good. You’ll have to keep me updated!
@ My youngest 2 are in 5th and 6th grade.
Oh those are good grades! I feel like around 5th & 6th grade is when you can really start getting more into the meat of subjects ya know?
I love books like this in my giveway
💕
More people need to be reading I thrifted 532 books for 88 dollars and 75 dvds for 22 dollars for my book giveway at applebees ( 3701 Veterans Memorial Blvd, Metairie, LA 70002). I have given away 3500 books in 12 months to babies, kids, teens, and adults.❤😊❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😊😊😊
