Eerie North Norfolk Coast
มุมมอง 5621 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
We set off at West Runton and walked North along the shoreline at low tide. Fog was rolling in and heavy. Our route out, up the cliff was closed off and unaccessible, so we continued onto the next town (Sheringham) after a short climb, we hit a switchback onto the coastal path. Giving the Beeston Bump a tight swerve, we made our way on a well worn low path and arrived at the edge of Beeston hol...

A breezy walk in North Norfolk; we were treated to Kemps men of Norwich performing on Cromer pier. Often maligned or ridiculed Morris are a massive and important part of our heritage. Wonderful to see and be a part of.
A Sunday walk along the Wandsum (Wensum)
มุมมอง 46หลายเดือนก่อน
Braving the tail of storm Bert take a walk with us along the chalk river Wandsum (Wensum) this stretch of waterway found the Anglo-Saxon settlement of Norwich and is a site of scientific significance and a conservation area of natural beauty Spawning numerous tributaries, this river weaves its way around the heart of Norfolk. From a sprawling city to village greens and river flows through it.
Great to see this video, that's one hell of a lot of work being done and probably still quite a lot more to come yet. All volunteers 🙋♂️ 👍 is absolutely awesome and incredible, I think 🤔 it's fairly obvious that, there is a heck of a lot of passion and enthusiasm. If you have a love of wood work (as i do in a small way compared to what you are doing) also creating such a splendid vessel must as I personally would be, full of pride to be a part of it. Absolutely brilliant 👏. Hope you are able to raise the funding needed, also be able to obtain more suitable timber to continue the build. I also applaud you for making saleable items from scraps and offcuts they are available for purchase. If I get the chance I would love to come and have a look. All the best to all of you on the continuing build 👍. Cheers Les.
@lesliecrowther7004 Thanks Les, thank you for taking the time to comment. All the support is welcome to see this project to completion.

This is lovely ❤
Beautiful tribute ❤️ 🐾 🐾
@KerryHoward-t5v thank you sweetheart xx
Is everyone sure the original was a sea worthy vessel or was it maybe not just built for the funeral?
@TheRobinj13 From what is known, it was certainly pulled up from the river. Perhaps it was floated? As for sea worthy, I'm not sure... it did not have a mast .
Had been used a fair bit- there were patches on the planking. Pretty sure it would have been seaworthy enough to have been rowed across to Holland or Germany.
@@PhilipSiddallreally interesting, thanks.

My home town. I used to walk through the Great Churchyard on the way home from school. We were very excited to see the new statue of King Edmund, but were very disappointed that Elizabeth Fink had depicted him as as that weedy little man. In our minds he was a heroic figure that had refused to give in to the Danes. They promised him freedom if he gave up Christianity. They shot him full of arrows, cut his head off and tossed it into the forest. When his followers looked for his head, they heard a voice crying “here, here’ and found a wolf guarding Edmunds head. He was made St Edmund the Martyr and the abbey was at one time the biggest and wealthiest in England, and attracted many pilgrims. I still hate that statue!
@greencloud2225 thanks for commenting. I certainly do not see King Edmund as weedy, the one true patron st of England, pious is often misinterpreted for weedy. Despite not being a Christian faith myself, I admire Edmund for his stout of heart and his belligerent belief.
Glad you enjoyed your visit to our beautiful town, sorry the weather wasn't better. Pleased to see that you visited the parish church of St Mary's as well as the cathedral, it is often overlooked, but well worth the visit. Did you notice that although unashamedly modern, the street pattern and Charter Square around The Apex replicate the Norman grid pattern and squares of the rest of the town centre originally laid out by Abbot Baldwin. One small correction, you captioned the C14th Abbey Gate as the Norman gate. The Norman tower (built by Abbot Anselm), is located in front of the west front of the abbey adjacent to the cathedral.
@chrisrand5185 thanks for the update, Bury is a beautiful town and very well worth multiple visits. Very interesting regarding the square.
A great place for a walk with plenty to see. Like the under water footage. Some wonderful exhibits, really interesting. We've had a few heavy rain showers too. Pleased it brightened up for you. Thank you for sharing. Best wishes Dave and Dawn ❤️

Been on the GW Railway, so full of, whats the term for a nostalgia for a past you never knew?
@breohtbrusmid489 Personally for me it is all about the engineering, steam or diesel, I matters little to me. Perhaps people secretively hark on for a simpler life.
Good morning Justin we loved this. The trains and station are wonderful so nostalgic. We really liked the seashells we never had a chance to see them when we visited Sheringham but will do so one day. Thank you for sharing this a big 👍 from us. Best wishes Dave and Dawn ❤️
