In this, blue means the green color of his clothes because, in Japanese, AOI (aoki before noun) can be either green and blue colors (no distinction). Blue/green also hints something "young." Green things are not ripe (old) but young (unripe). Might Guy often mentions "my youth such and such." The word for that is Seishun, literally means "blue (young, green, unripe) spring." And Rock Lee in this episode is after Drunken Fist of Bruce Lee. Old people like me remember that.

If it weren't for Kimimaro having a lethally incurable disease, Lee would've died. Kimimaro paused and allowed him to take his medicine, assuming Lee also had some severe illness like himself, and took pity. Or he wanted a true fight and let him rejuvenate slightly. Either way, Kimimaro being terminal saved Lee's life in that moment

This is one of the best fights in the series.
