    You are one of the MOST RELATABLE guy I’ve seen in a while. I like how the footage is raw and seemingly relatable to the subject. I also had to replace hot water heater gas valve and continued to smell a leak and lead me to furnace gas valve. Thanks a lot man

    Thanks for taking the time to document your repair. Very detailed and is exactly what I need to replace the gas valve. The furnace won't light until I bang on the gas valve, so its getting replaced. Also you refer to the "gas regulator". That is incorrect, the gas regulator (lowers the propane pressure from the tank) is usually located at the propane tank. The device you are replacing is more accurately called a "gas valve" as its function is to turn the propane gas on and off when commanded by the control board.

    At least you got a vent to the roof. Some rv’s are vented inside the wall

      Heck ya!! Happy to help. A lot of these things are not terribly difficult but it’s the unknown that stops us. Glad you got it done and did it yourself. Have a great one.

    My exact problem I think. The coils OHM = 0 for both so I hope this is the issue. I had a problem with the fittings coming out so I was hoping a table vise would help and evidently it does. Thanks a million. How did you know your gas valve was bad ???

    • @comervwithme3496
      @comervwithme3496 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      For me it was a constant smell of propane coming from the compartment, not overpowering but just enough to get your attention every now and then. I had the same issue with my heater regulator prior to this and it was the exact same symptoms. Hope you get yours back up and running.

    This was soooo helpful. Thank you. Just struggling to get the elbow and orifice off. Wish I could just get new. Don’t know sizes. Thanks so much again.

      It was very difficult to get those off for me. I had to clamp them and wrench on them pretty hard even after using PB Blaster. I mangled the old regulator getting them off. If you cannot get them off and want new parts. Verify your water heater is a G6A-8E. If it is use the link to the parts list pdxrvwholesale.com/products/atwood-water-heater-model-g6a-8e-tune-up-kit%20 The elbow is part#7 91044 The Orifice holder is part#9 91563 The orifice part# 10. 92743 If it is not click on a part anyways then on the page that pops up scroll to the bottom and they will list the different models in blue on left side of screen. Try to locate your model of water heater and it will give the blown out part map With list at the bottom of parts. I buy my parts from here and have never had an issue. They ship quickly or have at least for me. I really like that they have all the obsolete and current part numbers for everything. Very helpful best of luck. Hope this helps.

    I know this is 3 years old but hopefully someone can help with this question. This video is VERY helpful btw. I still seem to be having trouble loosening the gas valve. Is there any type of spray that we can safely use to help loosen it up? The valve just seems stuck. Again, thank you for this video. It was very helpful

    • @comervwithme3496
      @comervwithme3496 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Which part is stuck? The whole valve assembly or something on the valve like the tips? The propane line? As for things to spray I prefer PB Blaster. There’s also liquid wrench. You can saturate it and keep applying over the coarse of a day and see if that helps. Also might be able to use two wrenches. One to secure the valve and one to loosen threads. If you can be more specific as to what is stuck I might be able to give better advise. Also please make sure you turned off the propane at the tank valve before you remove.

  • @tmcblane
    @tmcblane 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    FYI, those threads are not reversed, they are standard right hand threads. The threads on your propane tank valve are left hand but the fittings are not.

    Great video; my unit exactly and the exact same problem. This will help me tremendously. My only suggestion is that for any future videos, please turn your phone the other way to we get a full screen and not just a slice in the center.

    • @comervwithme3496
      @comervwithme3496 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good idea. Some needed to be filmed from my pocket so it was shot with an upward phone. If you’re watching this video on a phone and you click the fullscreen button in the top left corner it will become a full screen video instead of the sliver video.

      @@comervwithme3496 The pocket thing makes sense. I was hoping my swap out would be like yours but I tried for several hours to get the piece out of the right end of the valve and finally gave up. I soaked it several times with PB Blaster but it just wouldn't break loose. It's pretty tore up now. The replacement for it is actually two separate pieces which I ordered today. I'm hoping it all goes together smoothly.

      Hope so. Should be simple with new parts. Mine was a PITA to get off. Would have been a bit easier if I had a vise but ya I can see how you could mangle it fast. Hope it all works out for you.

    When I changed my gas valve I took a carpet sewing needle and reamed out the tiny hole on the fitting that feeds gas into the burner tube....it was carboned up......simple fix.....

    The thread is normal on the gas valve. The only place that is is LEFT HAND THREAD is at the source or the tank POL fitting.

      Hi Brian. Sorry for the delay. Try looking here. pdxrvwholesale.com/products/atwood-water-heater-model-gc6aa-9e-tune-up-kit Open up the tabs at the bottom for the explodes view parts listings. All parts are listed by a number. Click the link for the corresponding number and it will take you to the part number and price. If that part happens to be obsolete it will list a new part number comparable for your unit. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need any more help.
