Thanks very much for your review. I was a Hindu monk and an writing a book about how I became a monk, why i made the decision to go to the monastery and what were my reasons for doing so. I've read the first few chapters of Seven Storey Mountain after it was recommended to me by a friend who is a professor of modern studies in America. Thanks very much for your review and I will read more of Seven Storey Mountain , because of your enthusiasm for the book.

This was great ! Just your interpretation of Nouwen's work was a powerful reminder of remembering our part in recognizing God's Grace in our lives. I needed this today after a few weeks with family. It is so easy to have judgements and expectations of family and very easy to forget our ingratitude for all their love and support of us. The more gratitude, the more it becomes a habit, and yet it is God's Grace that brings it in the first place. I pulled a dusty copy of Nouwen's "The inner voice of Love" off my bookshelf a few days ago and am soaking it up like a sponge; just what I needed at this time in my life. So many of the books on my shelf I have never fully read but only a page or a few sentences before putting it back on the shelf. Then the Lord will appear to put it in my hands when He sees fit, sometimes many years later, and I am ever so grateful for this kindness and care from Him.

Suffering is not in itself good. According to Buddhism a lot of suffering is self inflicted.

I love positive reviews that acknowledge what goes into telling a story. I was hoping Jacks could become a truly caring person and love her and surprise us because he was almost there! Legend hurt her repeatedly, but then he was struggling about giving up immortality and dealing with love.

Hi Tina! I can't stress how bad of a place this was to start with the Horus Heresy. Nick Kyme is a horrendous writer (probably the second worse writer employed by Black Library) I can't recommend enough starting with Horus Rising by Dan Abnett. You will not regret it. I recommend skipping Nick Kyme's books (or anything he writes) entirely.

The satire is about how New Englanders have an air of unearned superiority and the character of Hank is the embodiment of exactly that. Why would Clemmens write views that he deemed superior into a yankee? Remember he was from Missouri and spent his best years on the Mississippi river. He declared himself to be a Confederate. The satire was not of Ancient English civilization, but rather the works of New England airbags like Thoreau and Emmerson. Try to read Walden in all it's preachy hubris and not see a direct correlation to the hot air that exudes from Hank. If you read this book and were agitated by the main charater, that's because he was written to be an insufferable fussbudget.

The Bible is a whole library of old books that reflects the values and understandings of when it was written. There may be some historical references to stuff that happened as described, but given that it was gradually put together over hundreds of years, even the historical stuff is not very reliable. The main message of Jesus is to forgive, love, accept and show mercy....If the world followed that it would be a far better place.
