Nice product, but the SGI/IRIX version runs a lot smoother, more FPS and especially in shaded viewports (eg non-wireframe). Unfortunately as of the early 2000's, commodity PC 3D accelerators became more powerful and destroyed SGI and their beautiful products... I wonder what the world would have looked like if SGI ported IRIX to PCs, eg "IRIX86" with OpenGL drivers for Nvidia and AMD GPUs or something similar :)

Amazon should thank Sony for what they did. Not long after Lik Sang was gone, I was able to make the same kinf of purchases from there instead.

Best market's IK at this time, modelize in Alias and animate in Softimage, that's was the rule mid 90's.

Impressive software! More modern features than I expected. But I dont understand how a a single core 32 bit Pentium Pro 120 mhz could perform better than 64 bit SGI machines with gigs of ram (at a time when my first computer had 16 mb).. I get the point of easier game development and price..but in pure rendering power? I got into Lightwave a few years later and it still lacks native lattice deformers..

jeystonemusic How long do you work with CGI? What 3D software packages are you familiar with? What is your area of expertise? Sorry, your statement seems ignorant and clueless. If the artist is shit, then the best software in the world won't produce good results.
