It *is* super sad to see people going to great lengths to cheat. The Silly Bitchel style of existence is both pathetic and unfulfilling. Nothing of value is achieved even if a person deceives everyone (including themselves) for a bloody century, because a LIE IS STILL A LIE. 😂 It's not like the Universe rewards flat-Earthers, lunar loons who claim the landing was false, nor even Chump and his brainwashed chimps; chicanery and deceit is like the dust under one's boots.

Something quickly glossed over here is that the game repeats the same level lay out forever after 2038? Does this mean I'm gonna have a hard cap on when i can load up diablo 1 and play it effectively?

The thing with segments being from different playthroughs _is_ sort of believable as looser standards (as in SDA didn't catch it, and groobo didn't realize it wasn't allowed), but external modifications put it right into "wtf" category. I can't imagine any non-malicious excuse for that. No such seeds for levels 3 and 4? No seed WITH Naj's Puzzler in level 9? The fireball damage increase that was discovered later? No, this doesn't seem like an honest mistake.

I remember Groobo being called out as a faker by many people on a famous polish Diablo website ~15 years ago. His D1 speedruns were well known to be illegitimate to hardcore D1 fans who had a thorough understanding of how the game works.

Groobo 100% did this with malicious intent.

The irony that this presentation video has audio cuts as almost as if it was spliced. Really good content, but would have been better without the audio issues.

I just don't understand how it can be, that glich using, duping etc is allowed in such speedruns... do it the intendet way or just let it be....

This is a very interesting commentary on the pitfalls of segmented runs in general, and especially games like this where continuity (i.e., inventory) must be preserved. I think it's important to remember what a segmented run is supposed to be: a showcase of the theoretical best time achievable by a human in a SINGLE PLAYTHROUGH. groobo's run is clearly not that, and I agree with DwangoAC's assessment that groobo did not have malicious intentions. It's more the fault of SDA for not having the foresight to write strict enough rules that would've disallowed a run like this from being accepted. But the knowledge just wasn't there at the time; people thought with enough luck you could get a run like this. One thing this showcase has proven is that a run like this in a SINGLE PLAYTHROUGH is not possible, and for that I do also agree the run should be disqualified for not meeting today's segmented run standards.

This was so easy to recognize as fake it's hilarious to think people believed it's real and real time.

Very neat way to conclude the game than before, though...I wished he was a unique monster and drops some gear like a unique by chance.

Now THAT is really nice to see, it's something that I always want to see when all of the cut quests re-created in DevilutionX, considering I've seen it from Belzebub mod a long time ago. That being said, you are planning to restore all of the other cut quests someday?
