Beautiful 👍☃️🌹🍀🌲❤️🌝
hello neighbor, nice to see a local so calian growing orchids and bromeliads too. Usually the videos I watch are all over in Florida. love how your cym's look. thank you for mentioning the nursey too, now I have too check it out. I usually get mine from Waterwise Botanicals
Nice haul Dee Dee, you've got some interesting plants there, I hope they do well for you.
@@justinsdutchtropics hi 👋🏻 I’m most nervous about the pleurothallis types and trying to grow a Masdevallia again. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻

It’s fun to see all of your new orchids!
Beautiful blooms ❤😍
You have a wonderful tree. Beautiful burgundy Cymbidium. How exciting you have the others in spike too.😊
@@annavoeggia816 I’m very happy with my big cymbidiums. And yes I love the tree. It’s messy but gives the orchids natural leaf litter with nutrients. We will see if I get around to mounting some orchids on the tree this spring. 🤞🏻
Good morning friend
@@artisgagal5320 I’m sorry I missed your good morning 💕
Fantastic haul.🎉
Cymbidium and Bromeliads, my favourite in the garden 😊
@@FernandaNascimentoOrchids hi Fernanda 👋🏻 do you have any care videos I can watch on bromeliads?
@@deedeeblooms7896 Hi Dee Dee, no not really. I may have mentioned how I care for them in a video but I don't remember which one. Anyway, they are the easiest plants in my garden. They don't really need much care. The roots are mostly needed for anchoring and so when I buy them, although they come in a pot with dirt, I take the substrate off and plant them in the ground in a small hole with stones around the plant to make it stand upright. They don't drink from the roots. They drink from the crowns which are sort of reservoirs, therefore I water from above. They do not care much for fertilizer and so I use a weak solution, same as with orchids. Very often I only water with the hose with mains water. They like filtered sun and even some direct sun if not too hot. I hope this helped and happy growing 🥰🥰
My Roseopicta has only 2 leaves which are curling & getting crispy , what shall I do ?
@@domingojeromececilio5059 hi there! Sadly I lost my roseopicta. I still have about a half dozen Calathea in my collection. I lose many leaves to the browning and curly crisps. I think it’s that my humidity is not high enough. I plan on repotting all of my collection into self watering this coming spring or when I see a flush of new growths. Make sure to only water with distilled water or reverse osmosis water. Not sure how often you are watering but since it’s winter water every 10 days or so keeping consistently damp/moist. I’m sorry I don’t have any magical instructions. Calathea are really hard to grow outside of a humid greenhouse.
I grow orchids in Brisbane Australia. Our Spring/Summer temps. are 24degC to 30degC daytime & 20deg.C to 24degC nighttime. All my Dendrobiums grow & bloom like crazy! They sleep thru our Winter. The Den.nobile types need the cooler temps. to flower but grow lush here. I think your temps in the house aren’t warm enough & Den. bigibbum (Cooktown orchid) really needs warm temps to grow well.
@@roslynbarclay1000 good to know! I’ll probably transition more of my Dendrobiums outside this coming spring. But not the Den Phal types.
Beautiful plant varieties
@@meenaxisanga thank you 💕
You have wonderful orchids and you get along well with them . I made friends with orchids phal . They grow and bloom . I/m not very with orchid dendrobium . Tell me if possible how you tare care of them from the moment of purchase what do you do how do you tare care pf them . Thanks a lot .
@@madinasharifullina2480 thank you! When I first get an orchid, I research the lighting, watering, temperature, and fertilizer needs. I then choose my best growing space for the lighting and temperature. I check for any pests and treat if any are found. If I’m unsure at all about pest being present, I will keep the orchid separate from any of my growing areas for close to a month. I do not repot right away unless the media is very bad. I let the orchid adapt first for at least 3 to 6 weeks. If after that time, the orchid seems to be doing OK and if the media seems old, I will repot. If the media seems OK, I won’t repot until it’s needed. I water my orchids when they are reaching dryness, trying very hard not to let them go completely dry. Usually in summer that is once a week and in winter that’s every 10 to 14 days. For fertilizer during active vegetative growth. I try to fertilize 2 to 3 times a month with a weak solution and when the plant is not growing, I pull back on fertilizer to once a month to every six weeks. Every few months, I take damp paper towels, and wipe the dust off of leaves and closely check for pests. I look for pests each time I water too, but when cleaning the leaves, I especially look in the nooks and crannies. I am certainly not perfect in all of these instructions and there have been times where I haven’t been able to fertilize for several months or I get behind on my watering schedule and the Orchids go dry a bit too long and can shrivel. I try my best and thankfully most orchids are very forgiving and very tough. thank you so much for watching and if I can answer anything in more detail, please let me know.
Dendrobium spectabile
@@bundakiyama hi thanks for watching! I don’t have the Dendrobium spectabile yet in my collection. I do have the alexandre which is very similar.
You have quite the collection of Dendrobium. I have trouble with Dens. I think I have 4 that are hanging in there.
@@annavoeggia816 I got on a roll of getting them and then just ran into pest trouble over and over. I really hope self watering will provide the stability in growing conditions for them to better fight off pest attacks. Would love to see your Dendrobiums 😀

@@madinasharifullina2480 awww thanks! I live about 20 miles away from the ocean. The summers can be blistering so I don’t grow too many outside.
1:12 oh I feel the pain. Similar issues here as well. Hope you’ll get upper hand on the pests. I nowadays do pest control first during September/november. Then redo it after 2 weeks. I treat every plant in my home to tackle the thrips. So one round takes 2 weeks. Next 2 rounds are during spring and changing the pesticide to keep the thrips on their toes. (Saying in Finnish)
@@tropicalplantsfinland 😂 I like the Finnish saying.
Pests really take a toll on the poor dens 😢

I love the fragrance and beauty of zygopedalums! I had one many years ago that didn’t bloom until I put it outside for the summer. I gave it away when I had a series of back surgeries and it died for its new owner.😢 I’ve hesitated to get another one because I grow indoors under lights 8-9 months a year, and my last one was pretty large. Yours are blooming as smaller plants. Are there zygos of different sizes or are yours young orchids that will eventually get big?
@@lindaannb hi 👋🏻 the Zygos in this video I’ve had for no more than 3 years. I can’t say how old they were when I bought them. I would think at least 2-3 years. The smallest Zygo I have going on 3 years is a species, Zygo triste, which is about to bloom. I’ll feature that when the buds open. The largest I have and the longest, 3 1/2 years, is a hybrid. I repotted it 2 years ago and it naturally divided into 2 plants. I potted them separately. Now they’ve grown so well they are getting close to outgrowing their 8” pots. They both have 2 directions of growth and I bet will both naturally divide again giving me 4 plants if I want. The next repot though I think I’ll pot them all together to grow a specimen sized plant. To answer your question though, I have 16 different Zygo plants. They range in size by their bushiness, direction of growth, and spacing. Some grow in tighter clumps where others seem to spread out with larger pseudo bulbs. I have found Zygos to bloom even when smaller and younger. I would think you could grow and keep one smaller by removing older growths every few years.
@ Thanks for your very helpful response! Maybe I could squeeze one in to my collection. The one that I had before had the loveliest fragrance and was just gorgeous. I’ll keep watching to see more of your zygos!
Beautiful orchid thanks ❤❤
If a Man brought me these! The answer is YES!!!💍💒😂
Even though having a reason to think of your German shepherd baby is sad, it is also the kind of sad that you hope to experience because it means you get to see those that ar lost. And Eli welcome this reflective sadness. Beautiful plants as well! Nice extremes between the two
Beautiful blooms! The Sweet Cheyenne is very nice. I have one too, but it has never bloomed for me in the several years I've had it. This past spring I kicked it outdoors. I hope it does something eventually 🤞. It's really interesting that we detect scents differently. The Propetalum smells like rootbeer to me. Lol

@@Rufiat99 Thank you!
watering more will not solve your harmonica leaves. I know it is tempting to believe that as it is the easiest answer and people like easy but if you are growing orchids you should avoid going for easy. Your orchid will never grow out of the harmonica leaves if you don't treat the underlying reason. Since you won't believ me, I will just leave my comment at that and in 4 years time if this plant is still alive by then, it will still have harmonica leaves and you will ask yourself, well blimey, orchid growers always assured me they knew what they were talking about but there was that one really smart handsome guy online who tried to tell me...
@@tomfurmby88 Thanks for pointing out the harmonica leaves are not a simple answer. It’s overall the challenge of mimicking the moisture needs they get in their natural habitat, which includes humidity. I think I have them in too bright of light as well.
I would have been interested to see you pot those plants up. Maybe you can do that on another episode? It's just interesting to see the medium that people use, whether or not they trim old roots, how much they actually clean the plant and disturb the roots, etc. I can see that you have fairly good luck with your plants so that gives me some idea that you know what you're doing. Thank you for the video.
@@anndriggers6660 Thanks so much for watching and your feedback. I will look for potting video opportunities. I will only want to do this for ones that are established and actually thrive in my care. I wouldn’t want to show you my potting new ones I’ve never had before, you get one and do the same thing and then mine die afterwards from what I did. These all being new to me I’m doing my best guessing. Just a few snippets about my potting methods…if it’s a thirsty type of orchid, like Oncidiums, Coelygne, Cochleanthes, Bulbophyllum, Paphiopedilums, I use mostly moss with a smattering of bark & perlite thrown around but if it’s one that needs to dry out or mostly dry out in between, like Phalaenopsis, Cattleya, Encyclia, Dendrobium, I use half and half moss with bark & perlite.
O what two lovley orchids .love catleys but never have any luck with them .nice vido .london

Hi Dee Dee, I've got this one had it for many years, also got it from Ecuagenera. Definitely a cooler grower, cool and wet😊
@@justinsdutchtropics thanks for the tips! I’m really hoping to be successful with it. The leaves are curling in on themselves. Probably in shock.
@@deedeeblooms7896 yeah I get that also, I think it might mean too warm. When they are grown cooler and moist the leaves develop perfectly. Cool, wet , humid. Not the easiest to reproduce, fortunately that's kind of what the Dutch summer is like🤣
Hi Dee Dee, You got a fantastic haul there! I also have a Laelia cinnabarina. One thing to know is that you should reduce watering and reduce or eliminate fertilizer during winter until new growth appears in the spring. Hugs, Sherrii
