This fool has come up with a new philosophy to help him process a devastating loss. This philosophy is absurd! Competing at this level has 1purpose.......winning, nothing more. Mr Dorland, your initial perspective to competition was correct, your subsequent one is wrong. Please stop teaching this ridiculous approach to children. What they really need to learn is that the world can be a harsh place, and that they might one day face disappointments, and in turn how to deal with disappointments and still remain well adjusted.

+Kane Larson Your comments strike me as coming from someone that has very little insight as to what it takes to succeed at an Olympic level other than what they've seen on television. If by chance you're not giving Jason's comments proper consideration because he didn't win, then as a World and Olympic Champion as well as national and Olympic team head coach, take it from me that he's exactly right and I can provide numerous examples of Olympic medalists who would also back up Jason's perspective. I could also provide numerous examples of elite athletes who failed to live up to their potential because they were burdened by the mentality you speak of - one that believes that the entire Olympic field will fail except for one.
Terrific Jason. Putting the mind where it belongs on excellence, your perspective only adds to and compels peak performance.
