So, just yesterday I watched life lessons with uramichi oniisan and today I being read the whole manga till chapter 66.5 and unsure of its condition weather it is ongoing or finished I am just surfing the whole internet like I searched in TH-cam, chatgpt which didn't helped at all, at reddit a 1yr old comment says its ongoing with 73 japanese chapter and 66 English chapters, but I still don't get it because the manga site says that 66.5 was released 1yr ago but 65 was released just 3 months ago and it's hella confusing so just wanna know if you know where to read the next characters (like 73 which someone mentioned in reddit) in english or if you have any information related to it. If you happen to know please tell me I'll be very grateful if you do so.

I love knowing that someone has read billy bat and love it so much, the complex narrative, amazingly well done analysis of the psychology of these different characters that has influenced history, how the bat has done so as well, the impact of the external forces and how different historical events and characters could've changed with just a slight change, maybe even in other humans with how they view each other (Lee Harvey Oswald for example) it is truly a beuatiful story that gives redemption, reconciliation, his brilliant use of mystery and suspense, hope, and understanding, moving forward in life through the bad, and acceptance a way to shine and show people how these emotions could change yourself and the world through the eyes of the characters and the bat. It is a wonderfully written and powerful, impactful story, full of absolute joy, my personal favorite manga ever, I feel like people could learn a lot from this.

Would like to hear more about the series you already have, what you think about them and what you're currently reading etc. I think taking a break from buying more manga and read what you already have is great and healthy. Plus it makes you appreciate and care about the manga you already have ^_^

this video sounds like if you took a person who doesn't like Urasawa and told him to read, it seems that you dislike all of what makes Urasawa, well... himself. Well, I'm proud of you! 🎉 Not many Mangatubers stick to their buying bans lol. It kinda boggles my mind seeing those in the manga sphere having soooo much in their TBR while they keep on buying new series. This is simply cause I know it would fill me with anxiety to be in their shoes. So many series to keep track of, to read, to complete...I'd be so overwhelmed! Yet it seems like I'm always the only one who feels like that cause usually no one else limits the amount of series they collect concurrently. And when a topic comes up regarding people's TBRs, I tend to always be the one who doesn't actually have a TBR because of that limit I put on myself. 😅 When it comes to collecting manga, I think having a healthy balance of collecting and spending while also having a few limitations is probably the best way to avoid any "burnouts" or buying regrets or getting addicted to those dopamine hits and you end up buying simply for the sake of the buy and not for WHAT you're buying.

I went on a buy ban back in January so I could save to take a trip to Japan and 5 months later(in May) after I purchased my tickets to go, I think I only bought about 2 or 3 manga. In the last 2 and a half months I haven’t been on a buy ban but, I’ve also not been buying nearly as much as I used to(maybe 30 total from May to today). I also have a list on my phone of series I’m interested in picking up but, I haven’t felt that urgency that I used to. TDLR: Same same same. On all accounts.

This is why I stick to a handful of core series to collect and read at a time. Until I've finished all that's available for those series, I won't explore many new ones. There are some exceptions but this for the most part has kept me focused on completing my TBR. Also, keeping only one Billy Book shelf full of manga and what I keep on my nightstand to actively read, I limit what I buy as well. Currently what I have on my shelf TBR is Alice in Borderland, Eniale & Dewiela, The Ghost in the Shell, and Berserk. Before I can add to the shelf I have to finish and sell something to make room. The exceptions I talked about are series I'll grab from the library that won't be staying as part of my collection and that have due dates to return or what I read on the SJ app, like One Piece. Also, the Berserk series, even though I collected 8 deluxe editions by buying someone's second hand collection, I got really burnt on the series in Deluxe volume 5 and put it down for almost an entire year now. I do plan to complete but it's not first up on my TBR right now. I have added a couple of ongoing series like Smoking Behind the Super Market With You and Hirayasumi recently and I'm really glad I did cause they're scratching the right itch for me right now. But other than those and Dandadan (which is peak) I'm not collecting any ongoing series and am focusing on those series I have collected already. Once I've finished those I'll probably sell the one I liked the least and make room for something else. Maybe Fire Force, but suggestions would be appreciated. I like stuff with a lot of emotional weight and make me feel a roller coaster of emotions but that won't leave me depressed after every volume. Anyway, it's all about finding that balance of collecting and reading that's right for you. Keep up the passion, stay true to yourself, and don't put unnecessary pressure on a hobby that's meant to be fun. Peace out.

I relate to some of your points quite a bit. Especially the one about having a huge tbr lol I need to implement a ban myself and do some unhauling before I pick up anymore manga.

Libraries are your friend, especially to try new series. I’m lucky and my library stocks a ton of manga, but even if yours isn’t as large as mine, they can ILL you that volume.

I’ve very much been trying to scale back my collecting and up my reading. I’ve also been trying to use my library a lot more and be more comfortable with digital (especially for series I’m not gonna read again). Likewise I’ve been unhauling more because I really want to have a smaller curated collection more so than a full on library of every series ever (even ones I hate). I mean I had like 2000 volumes last year and I’m down to about 1000 and I still feel like it’s too much (especially as someone who has moved and is only going to move again in a year or two).

I personally impulse bought too much in the beginning of my collecting journey, but I've learnt from my mistakes. Now I'm much for patient and only buy manga on sale, and don't start new series when I have too much ongoing stuff. It's also okay to sell manga you won't read again.

Been on a similar path as you, roughly about the same time frame. Breaks are super healthy, I've personally limited my purchase amounts to series that I'm absolutely loving at the time, which is like 3-4 series at most. I've also taken the time to really look at the entire collection and force myself to sell, not looking to be a collector to collect(a bad trap I did fall in), but a collector that enjoys everything in the library. That unhauling has helped a lot. Taking breaks and curating collections are healthy habits to keep. Look forward to your hauls when you are ready to do them again!

Great vid once again prof, I can totally relate to you as I recently hit 3 years of collecting and took some notes such as number of volumes, volumes read and unread and i really was an eye opener for me. I decided to put a hold on buying and really read more and if I didnt enjoy the first 3 volumes I just dropped it as a means to refine my collection with series I only see myself rereading.

Related to your point about appreciating what you already have - I'm curious roughly what percentage of your collection you've already read (whether that be reading the physical book, reading digitally and then buying the physical, currently reading the series but maybe a few volumes behind, or stuff you've not touched at all). I've got a healthy collection myself (450+ volumes) and the fact that I've read 95+% of it I think helps me to look at my collection and go "there's a reason why I have this".

I also doing buying book ban as well at least for a month or two 🙂😄

Oh, whew. The things I considered rumors from some other comment section in another video are not true, and I'm glad I found this because even if it doesn't give any spoilers, it does give a glimpse to how the ending parts of the manga are and it isn't bad. (For reference, when I say bad, I mean like they're in a relationship that is becoming more and more toxic because some guy said Hori became abusive and Miyamura is too much of an enabler for it and such and such, so I'm just gonna chalk up that the comment I read in the aforementioned "another video" was written by a guy who read a very grim fanfiction manga and thought it was real.)
