@@MegaMaddydog I apologize for not responding, but I’ve been extremely busy. I do not have any seahorses at this point in time. I do sell a number of other items though. Seahorses, and all aquatic life are extremely expensive to ship. Corals are very expensive too. The cost of shipping is actually more than the coral costs. I bought it from a store on eBay. The store is called Mercer of Montana. This is the best strain that I could get. I tried a bunch of other places, and it was not the same quality. This stuff will totally obliterate any kind of algae that has formed in your aquarium. At one point in time. I had an over abundance of this. All of a sudden. It just started selling like crazy. At first, I didn’t know what I was going to do with all of this plankton, then it all went away. My house looks like a mad scientist’s lab. If you want to grow it. You will have to have a source of light. Preferably a growing light. You will need 2 to 3 clear 2 L bottles to get you started. It’s a nonstop job of constantly straining, detritus, and splitting the cultures. If you do not want to grow this. Then you will have no problem on ridding your tanks of nuisance algae. The fish love it. It’s great for filter feeders, and corals love it as well. I used to dose my tanks at night with all of the filters off. Give it about 30 minutes for the plankton to settle in the aquarium, and then turn your filters back on. The plankton will get into the sand, rock work, and then they will set up a home, and then they will start feeding. Thank you for watching, and for your questions.

@@MegaMaddydog I add the plankton directly into the tank. You can keep the power heads on, but it’s best to turn the filtration off for around 30 minutes as well as the lights. You don’t want to overdose the tank either. You can add too much, and you will get an ammonia spike that is deadly. It can definitely wipe out your entire tank.

I use RODI. It’s a fairly simple setup. You just have to be patient, and pretty much babysit these ponies. It’s an amazing experience, and it’s well worth the effort as well as the time. Thank you for watching!

At the top of the movement you will see what is called a floating conical wheel. This is the wheel that is spinning back, and forth. You can either stop the wheel, or let the mainspring run itself down to let the wheel stop. You adjust the a slide on the wheel either to the right to speed it up, or to the left to slow it down. You then start the wheel up again, and then you set the time to the correct time. After a day you can adjust the conical wheel again if it still needs adjusting. Thank you for tuning in!

The wheel moving back, and forth is called a conical wheel. To adjust the conical wheel. You must stop it first. You then take a pair of tweezers, or something small, and slide the small wheel that’s on the inside of the conical wheel to the right to speed it up, or to the left to slow it down. You then start the wheel motion again, set the clock to the correct time, and let the clock run for a day. If the clock needs to be set again, then continue the above process until you are satisfied with the clock. Thank you for tuning in.

I’ve added a small sump with Chaeto that tumbles as well as some Red Gracileria to all of my tanks, and you’re right. That macro will obliterate the nitrates. I still use the skimmer though, and my filtration. Plus I can sell that macro. Thank you for watching as well as your input!!!

@@RustyShacklefardd I’m sure that they are, but I try to make things as simple as possible. I have 6 tanks in total. On each tank I’m experimenting with different lights. My latest tank is my grow out tank which are equipped with T5 lighting. I went old school on that one, but the rest of my reef tanks are all LED driven. I’ve yet to make a video on my main seahorse tank, but I’m extremely busy. Every tank that I have has coral in them. The dwarf tank however does not. The corals would be depleted of the nutrients that they need. I have to do a 100% water change weekly. That’s even with me having a sump. The ponies are very time consuming, and so are my other hobbies that I’ve turned into a small business.

@@khaquaticscreationsrestora1759 you are doing a fine job. Why add problems to the tank. Pests on the live plants can cause more problems than they are worth for the dwarfs. They are happy the way they are. Keep up the great work. Your ponies are happy and so are you.

There really isn’t an amount per pony. I just take a turkey baster, and load it up until they are done eating. After it looks like they are done. I simply get the bulk of the leftover brine out of the water, and then repeat the process. They love to eat constantly, but they can only have so much. Despite on what some forums, or what individuals will tell you. They are excellent swimmers, and they will hunt their food down. They do not like a high flow of water. It could kill them. Thank you. Does adding the brine via turkey Baster affect the salinity of their water? I guess not if the salinity of the brine shrimp water is similar to theirs.

@@bonitoplantito770 That’s exactly how I do it. Every seahorse tank has its own salinity, and I just take the water from their 50 gallon barrel. I have 3 50 gallon barrels doing nothing but circulating water. The other 2 are for my reef tanks, grow out tanks, and phytoplankton tanks. Keeping the dwarfs can be a little hard at 1st, but once you get your own routine down. Then it’s all downhill. I only clean the tank once a week, but I sterilize everything with rubbing alcohol. I’m so used to doing this with my phyto cultures that this has just become a way of cleaning everything. I don’t clean the pumps with alcohol. I clean them with vinegar, and scrub everything down with a toothbrush.

@@khaquaticscreationsrestora1759 Thanks a lot I appreciate it. I had them once over 15 years ago, and they seemed fine and healthy, ate well, swam normal, but eventually died off slowly one by one. I didn't supplement/feed my brine shrimp, so perhaps that's why? I thought the newly hatched brine were nutritious enough, but I'm reading now that that is not the case. My setup was simple as well, almost like yours but without a sump. Could have been the size too as I think it was only 2.5 gal. I'd like to give it another try, but finding Dwarf Seashores in Canada is nearly impossible these days. Post more vids so I can at least admire yours in the meantime haha.

@@bonitoplantito770 It’s not uncommon for them to die off like that. Sometimes they are at the end of their lives, and sometimes it can be an infection. Then again it can be the way that they were raised/caught. They could’ve already had been doomed from the get go. I stay away from the sponge filters; because they are messy. The bubbles can also get introduced into the seahorses stomachs which are not good at all. They just need a steady flow of water, and good husbandry to maintain these little guys. It’s cool to look at the small ones, and compare them to the bigger ones. That’s where things can get complicated if you don’t have the right setup. I hope that you can get into the hobby again. I really appreciate your feedback, and your kind words. It’s always nice talking to someone about the hobby. I’ve dealt with seahorses before, but I caught the reefing bug some 29 years ago. That’s a lot of money that went down the drain, and a lot of wanting to give up, but never did. That’s the one hobby that I’ve ever stuck with. I just couldn’t shake it. I didn’t want to. It really is rewarding.
