Journey from Birmingham to London: Exploring the British Museum
I began my journey by bus from Birmingham to London, arriving at Victoria Bus Station.
From there, I made my way through Trafalgar Square and headed towards the iconic British Museum.
My first stop inside the museum was the Africa Gallery, where I explored fascinating artifacts from the continent’s diverse cultures. Moving on, I delved into the Assyrian Civilization section, marveling at the rich history of ancient Mesopotamia. The grandeur of the museum’s main hall entrance took my breath away before I continued to one of the museum’s most intriguing pieces - the coffin of Pharaoh Ramesses III.
Afterward, I wandered through the Sudan Gallery and the Egypt Gallery, where I encountered ancient coffins and mummies, providing a glimpse into the funerary practices of these remarkable civilizations. A quick detour brought me to the Chinese Gallery, with its impressive collection of ancient artifacts.
The British Museum is vast, and a full day (or two!) is truly needed to explore it thoroughly. With its rich displays of human history and culture from around the world, the museum offers a unique journey through time. It’s worth taking some time to learn the history of the museum itself - founded in 1753, it houses over 8 million works, making it one of the largest and most comprehensive museums in the world.
