My faithfull reliable friend for over 40 years! The best trains to come out of British rail engineering in my opinion! So many fond memories of travelling on them with the original paxman velenta engines.the roar when the driver opened them up climing the bank from chesterfield through Dronfield to Sheffield! Happy memories!

I can remember as a 5 year old back then in 2002 I see class 47s on a loco hauled cross country services before they got replaced by the voyagers

Correction this was the penultimate HST, the final southbound was in fact on Sunday 17 September 43366 and 43303 worked from Birmingham to Plymouth 1Z52

I have a feeling that the 2 car class 143 pacer trains 🚊 were last used on its final day in service with GWR - Great Western Railway 🚃 is dated Saturday 12th December 2020. There were 8 x 2 car class 143 pacer trains 🚆 are 143603/611/612/617-621. Wheel 🛞 and track 🛤️ wear. Don’t worry 😉 about the pacer trains 🚊 because they are not part of BR - British Rail anymore. Hooray 😄. Good 👍. It serves the pacer trains 🚆 right that they are a thing of the past. Most are used for preserved railways 🚃 🚆. 👍👍👍👍👍

Beautiful clip, well composed with the scenerey! These HSTs are set to become "historic" enthusiasts "sought-afters". Who knows: they might eventually beat the Deltics for collectors' popularity.

So are HSTs still running? I thought they were all withdrawn from service?

Didn’t know that 47 could pull MK3 coaches with DVT on the rear don’t they require 3phase power to run AC units thought only Class 43 or 91 could provide this ?

We all moan when new locos replace existing ones,but it's progress,and let's be fair their job is to carry the public.

Never seen one of them not stop at Exeter.

Opinions: Having spent more miles behind a Brush Type Four than I could realistically recall, listening to them in these videos doesn't sound the same. I appreciate the age of the equipment. In all these videos you can hear a very loud turbo, though when I was behind them I didn't recall it being so noticeable- though watching them race past between Edinburgh and Glasgow, going full bore after leaving Haymarket, you could certainly hear the turbo from a distance. The question: Is this just a difference in what the microphone picks up compared to the human ear or is my memory false? A wonderful video- thank you.

Great to see my old favourite 47831. Stil going as 57310 of course. Strongest 47/8 there was and a pleasure to drive, as were all of the class. Miss them.
