I ended up in a Smeargle's scribble game with the 'pokemon drop all items when returned to the bench' and then got a shiny encounter with a rare candy. Turns out that mod + rare candy makes an infinite level and gold loop, and I won with a sound team including 3 floettes, 2 with Aqua Eggs. Sooo many ability triggers...

You should try this again with light, it's going to be rough at the start with only the litwick and mareep lines being common light choices
