I doubt the pine trees are natural local there, like the man-made in bohol that destroyed the ecosystem.
This tourist attraction featured in this travel guide is in "Agoo, La Union" - Agoo is derived from the word "Agoho" or "Aroo" which is the name for whistling pine trees in the local language. These evergreen trees have thrived in these plains in between the West Philippine Sea and Cordillera mountain ranges since the pre-Spanish period. And the multitude of them in this particular town gave them the name "Agoo" or "The Town of Whistling Pine Trees". So although the forest in Agoo eco park is man-made, the specie of pine trees planted here is native to Agoo, La Union.
@@WeHaveATravelShow Most of them are in inland cordillera, not outskirt. Also, Even in Cordillera, these trees are planted with other shrubs exactly to cater smaller species, that are really local in that area and the rest of the country. We cannot change what has already been done, but to just justify mistakes is not acceptable-.
@@snarveien1853 We're sorry for the confusion! Of course we agree that mono-cropping has damaging effects to the environment! But we hope you didn't misunderstand that we were talking about the town of Agoo, La Union - the plains sandwiched BETWEEN the Cordilleran Mountain Ranges and the West Philippine Sea that had a lot of these pine trees that the town was named after them! And as your original comment wondered if the pine trees in the Agoo Eco Park are a native specie in Agoo, La Union, the Casuarina equisetifolia (Agoho) has naturally grown in this town in La Union since the pre-spanish period which means YES! They are a native specie to this area of La Union. While the trees you are talking about in the mountain of the Cordilleras are a different specie - the Pinus Kesiya (Benguet Pine). Isn't it wonderful how many varieties of species of pine trees there are in the Philippines? And you'll be surprised that they grow in different parts of the Philippines not just the mountain regions!🌲 The "whistling pine trees" or Casuarina equisetifolia known as the "coastal she-oak" grow near the sea behind beaches and rocky headlands. That's why you can see this specific variety of pine in many coastal regions in the Northern Philippines like the town of Curimao, Ilocos Norte and Pinili, Ilocos Norte. However, the number of Agoho trees in Agoo, La union has dwindled in the past years so this man-made forest helps in reforesting the coast of this town. As you can see in the video, there are many areas to this 10,000 acre nature reserve and most parts are "wild" areas where other plant species are left to thrive WITH the agoho pine trees making a balanced flora for the fauna in the region.
The agoho pine tree is a different species from Benguet pine trees. This species is local to Agoo and other provinces but not in Cordillera.
I didn’t know about this paradise till now! Perfect video for travelers visiting La Union. Informative and beautiful cinematography. Liked and subscribed 👍 Thanks!!!
