    I'm originally a Grand Rapids guy so I knew about Rob, watched Nooma with my youth group kids, etc. Found Richard Rohr through Christian mysticism channels. Both have so helped to re-define and animate a largely dead Jesus in my heart of hearts. Now I see divinity everywhere, having lost the filter of dualism I grew up with. In my 20s I was attracted to some of the truths of eastern religions but that only went so far. Now I find the same truths, but for me more dynamic and personal, in the Jesus story and scripture in general. It has so much that our American Christian culture strips away, so much life, breath, joy, freedom, grace. So hearing these two truly open hearts and minds reflect off one another.... beyond wonderful.

    Rob, Excellent! Life mysteries are in small rituals, tiny details, small steps, ritualistic concrete actions, etc.. well said. Supporting to your good examples you mentioned, such as “breakfast right”, cleaning closets, I would suggest to one more powerful ritualistic small step a person can start to come out of hole; recovering and thriving to new horizons, that is: making a bed as gets up every morning ritual!

    I'm wondering if all the same can be true and applied to depression or if that's different. I've struggled with depression my entire adult life. what do I do with my depression? am I wired that way? I was a happy kid for the most part. but always low motivation. I can't see the other side of depression the way you have found with anxiety.

    So here is what I don’t get. If I am feeling anxious eg about aging ( big one for me) snd I go for a walk/take a bath my mind will keep on with those thoughts. I can’t have empty time as then it gets filled with those thoughts. I have to keep busy and not think. But that is not healthy. 😢

    I only came across your work a couple of days ago. I watched a talk which was more like an excellent show than a talk. It was excellent. I have watched a few more videos before finding out you do a pod cast. I took a lucky dip into your earlier days and the very first one I selected (purely by chance) was this one! I am so glad you have connected with Richard Rhor because I was blown away when I discovered his work on TH-cam around 2 months ago. I have subsequently tried to find all videos that Richard has appeared up. It was via searching his you tube videos out that I came across your work which I also really both enjoyed and appreciated deeply. On discovering you also had a podcast I found where I could locate them. The very first pod cast I picked out randomly was with Richard Rhor!! Amazing!!! There are no such things as co-incidences!

      Just like biblical and historical evidence proves that jesus and his apostles were vegatarians biblical and historical evidence also proves that the trinity, atonement, original sin and hell are very late misinterpretations and are not supported by the early creed hence its not a part of Christianity I pray that Allah swt revives Christianity both inside and out preserves and protects it and makes its massage be witnessed by all people but at the right moment, place and time The secred text of the Bible says ye shall know them by their fruits So too that I say to my christian brothers and sisters be fruitful and multiply Best regards from a Muslim ( line of ismail )

    A barrier between eastern thought and western tends to mostly be lingual in how spirituality is perceived. For instance, in christo-Judaic thought, the masculine "pillar" is force, and is to the "right" (Chokhmah), the feminine (Binah) is form, and to the "left". In Hunduistic thought we are looking at EXACTLY the same thing. However, in their spiritual LANGUAGE, the pillars are named in reverse gender. The only thing of urgent not is to ALWAYS REMEMBER, as in certain languages around the world, some words are masculine or feminine, or neuter, and that, between languages this can change and isn't of itself important. It is the underlying substance that matters. So, too, how the living energy is symbolically portrayed is actually describing the same thing, a spiral going up in a cylindrical shape, then once at the top rotates back down till it loops back up. We have shadows of this surviving through images such as the medical caddueceus symbol. In Hinduism the elephant makes clear paths through thick dense dark Forrest. In the west Iochanan the Baptist fulfills this role with his "make straight paths" (clearing the Way). Sri Bakhtevedanti got it wrong, in his Krishna books in the 1970s by shooting his own argument in the foot. He showed he didn't actually know what he was talking about: He said in effect it was impossible for Jesus to be because to take away sin is to remove the karma. Lol? He just didn't get the purpose of Christ's mission there AT ALL, and actually made Jesus argument for Him! It's something Hinduism is generally fuzzy round the edges on, as they've been groomed for as long as we have. The hope of salvation for Hindus is bleak so far as "knowing your place" goes. Though their commoners are talked about by their professional classes much, they are rarely invited into the discussion. Though, it's getting bad again here in the west.

    We're all being trafficked. Since we were driven off the hills, out of the Forrest's and plains into the cities, mostly against our wills as commoners, "heathens" (those from the heathlands"), "little people" (infantry), trafficked into wage slavery and perpetual austerity except for phases of bribery and flattery, groomed to assist birthing the invisible mechanical all-powerful unregulated free-market, which doesn't even know it' has a planet to live on nor recognize nor care for us. We've been groomed since ancient times. Most of us no longer see the stars above (two thirds of the stars were to be blotted out?), most of us no longer know how to live upon the planet were perfectly evolved to be perfectly at home upon. Captive. Desperate, afraid, disenfranchised, disempowered, afraid to organise and be alive to our own home planet. All employment and business is currently set-up to PREVENT and distract us from this. Captives. "Revival Babylon", captivity. And "Rome" the controlling military-corporate entities. Irrespective of what orders come from the tabloid social media spirit we all have the power to start looking after each other, and make choices and purchases with joined-up thinking as to how we treat each other and our world by what we buy and where we choose to work. Speaking up. Organising of our own accord, with love. It is said, in the end-times, that the Holy Spirit would come like a flood, the young would have visions, the old dream dreams, and MANY WOULD SEE CLEARLY. Christ doesn't even know the moment of His return! Only The Father knows that. Clever strategy. The coming quantum digital phase will escalate the invisible captivity chains but will NEVER understand what only The Father Knows. It can't understand. It isn't even alive, and actually has no understanding as it's predestined urges stem from the impulses of unregulated free market economy algorithms. No feelings. No compassion, no soul. No love. It doesn't even "know" what it "knows". It's just "data" electronics, on/off and chemistry. A mere Newtonian nightmare in a grown-up body. Mere cold cause-effect mechanics as it's politics and economy, and it's even as it evolved as a system, groomed many people think of themselves this way too. Meaningless chemical reactions and data. Everything is a commodity, nothing is sacred. Even themselves. BUT WE THE PEOPLE can come out of her! The Bible tells me so!

  • @deejannemeiurffnicht1791
    @deejannemeiurffnicht1791 ปีที่แล้ว

    The people who are still yet "the people", and who still yet haven't accepted "civilization" and who still live in what we call the "Wilderness" , rain Forrest's, glaciers, Great plains of the planet, and not the captives we call "We, The People".. what of them? None of the monotheists give ANY THOUGHT to what their cultures are STILL DOING TO THOSE SOULS WITH EVERY BURGER THEY GULP DOWN, and every chemical they use, or carbon they emit.

    I've NEVER commented on TH-cam EVER -until now. Wow, so simple but so profound ! What you say starting around minute 46 (i.e. ," You have to go in to find the infinite....") is LIFE-CHANGING stuff ! I teach art to juvenile offenders ,mostly in for gang-related violence / drug charges. I'm going to print out that portion and post it on the art room wall . If it can help even a few to change the direction of their lives and be a part of THE GAME (the only ONE worthy of our energy / God-given life force ) instead of chasing after those things that seemingly offer fulfillment and status especially when it's at the expense of others

    One thing I just don't understand about the non-dual mind is: What about evil? At around 29:30 Rohr says that 'everything bears the divine DNA'. But how do we make sense of the evil and darkness in this world? What is sin according to this view? Some things are good and some things are bad. And if someone denies this, then you must maintain that what I just said was wrong, and therefore what I said was 'wrong' or 'bad' and this maintains that some things are good and some are bad.

    the events with vespasian/lucius in gerasa took place during the jewish war, so it was _after_ jesus. so, maybe the first readers of marc's gospel knew the story, but jesus' disciples in the early 30ies definitely didn't.

    So. I experienced a wound as deep as the sea and for over a year swirled in confusion while trying to sort and deconstruct- still left lost standing in ash and rubble unsure how to move anywhere else or what to do with it. We're not Jewish, but have been observing the holidays for a bit. For the Three Weeks before Tisha B'Av, I decided to listen to your Learning to Lament. So good! Thank you so much. It's just what I needed. I was thinking over this appropriate timing for lamentations and how it felt so right and necessary. And then the voice of God told me after that, I needed to look for the Messiah and redemption and I was to, like Christ, pour blood and water out of my side into the situation. ok. But NO! I cried so hard no sound came and no breath could be found. Then from your lament videos I tangentized on to the one about boundaries. When you talked about the giving of ourselves- the breaking of our body and pouring out blood with boundaries for something better and new. It felt so right. The last meal before the fast of Tisha B'Av, I'll eat an egg dipped in ash and then pray, ponder, fast for a new world to spring forth. Thank you. Thank you for all the wisdom and inspiration you share with us.
