I use a spray one already made in a can , when I touch the item even gently and even with a primer underside it came off Im pretty upset XD even cause if you do not get it shiny the copper takes like 5 times more to cover the item

    I was reading some research on india ink with additives like graphite for another reason earlier today. A point the researchers said was critical in one analysis was sonicating the solution before use to break up clumps and create a more homogenous mix. For small vials or dropper bottles I use a cheap a** lab agitator for test tubes, works great and if you throw in mixing balls you can just retrieve them later or leave them in for the next batch.

    Interesting, I've literally never heard of resin "going bad" after a few weeks, that sounds extremely wasteful. I've left resin in my vat for months and just stirred it to remix the pigment and go from there without any issues. Also Vat Clean works great with an object in it that works like a handle so you don't need to dunk fingers into the vat. Some people use old supports.

    Blundered onto your video months after you published. The india ink makes sense as to why it it's so compatible with the graphite vs the others. Recalling from HS Art classes - india ink is carbon black (fine, fine powdered charcoal) in an alcohol as the solvent/carrier. It might be possible for you to 'eliminate' the india ink and just use the same alcohol solvent/carrier with your graphite powder, if it's fine enough. But, that's just me armchair quarterbacking, not from experience, yet. Thank you for the great video!

    I found it interesting that India ink is working and then i looked on the Wikipedia page for India ink and they said it is a suspension of lampblack (carbon soot) and water though it can also have gelatin or shellac added to aid in durability… my bet is shellac as i have heard of conductive paints that use shellac. Though i thought shellac only dissolved in denatured alcohol or similar. I would be curious if a thinned shellac to be like the ink with the graphite but not the lamp black would work better or worse.

      Thank you! The parts need to be polished after plating, if its a smooth surface something as simple as steel wool will be enough, if its a rougher surface then you can either use sand paper, rotary tools, buffing wheel, or a tumbler with polishing media etc… Im working on a video about this but there is also some good information out there if you google how to polish electroplated copper.

    • @DIYCOOLSTUFF

      I messed around with this and the speakers were either distorted or underpowered because it takes much more amplification to power a stereo style sound vs an in the ear sound. Seems like the internals of a phones speaker phone system would be ideal but they don’t actually sell those individually and the closest I was able to find was a micro blue tooth speaker. @@DIYCOOLSTUFF AirPods are extremely complex, both because of size, but also how they achieve the sound given the very limited power availability. Having said that, it should still be possible to hack the device and piggy back a larger amp and driver module, while maintaining a very minimal footprint. I am quiet well versed at the standard Arduino & Co modules, which are all designed for practicality and not power saving nor space. When I get the time I will see what I can cook up :).

      @@SarahKchannel thankyou that would be great! I wouldn't call myself a rookie at hobby electronics by any means but despite my searches I couldn't find a really small amplifier that was also Bluetooth capable. Plenty out there but none that were built for something this small. Additionally, and even more of a handicap was finding a speaker that was of small form factor and that was comparably loud to a phone's speaker phone without distorting. Most of the cellular phone speakers come attached to either oddly shaped boards or have an odd footprint that makes them even less ideal than the speaker I used.

      @DIYCOOLSTUFF 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree. I Tried to find some small custom boards maybe like something for a hearing aid or a tore down ear pod, and just add a small amplifier to it, but honestly it’s harder to find a smaller speaker that handles audio well at that scale. Every smaller speaker I tried distorted horribly, not to mention battery life is a few hours as it is playing music, so that would probably go down making it smaller as well, but yes I wish there were better options that I was aware of out there.

      Most of the cellular phone speakers come attached to either oddly shaped boards or have an odd footprint that makes them even less ideal than the speaker I used. Honestly probably best-case scenario would be to collaborate with someone much smarter in electronics than me and order a custom shaped board to accommodate a smaller design with much the same size speaker. The speaker might could be slightly smaller if a higher quality speaker were used but i still want to be able to get decent sound from the device when playing music or using the speaker phone. H2SO4 is not the same acid as in your stomach. HCl - Hydrochloric acid is in your stomach. Though I don't recommend carelessness around strong solutions of Hcl either. Review your WHMIS and read the data sheets before proceeding, and wear protective equipment even when working with weaker concentrations (cleaning etc.)

      Not sure if that was directed at me, I don't believe I referred to H2SO4 as stomach acid anywhere in the video. If so, I mis spoke, but I reviewed the video and couldn't find it. Spent a decent portion of the video on acid safety so I'm grateful for a heads up if I did misspeak because I did try to overly stress safety. Thanks for watching!
