This was great!
What a stellar gathering!! LOVE!
Cindy Rasmus!!!
Wow! This is the best thing written about Covid and first responders. Such an important poem.
From 1965-1966, I lived in SOHO, on Thompson St., between Prince and Spring Streets. It was a working class Italian neighborhood. I was 12 years old. I lived with my single mom and 2 brothers. It was a close-knit community. We kids knew each other, and, maybe, the Mafia made sure it was a safe place for us kids and grandpas and grandmas. It was so affordable that my mother could support us working as a modest bank teller only. Now, it is exactly what George Wallace describes in his poem. All the heart and soul are gone and replaced by greed and gentrification. That is why so many big cities now have big numbers of unhoused people. Thank you, George, for your evoking the heart and soul of Diane DiPrima in your apocalyptic trumpet blast. I wish and hope that it will wake more people than just us poets and other human/humane souls, but I fear the future portends even more prosperity for the few and complete, dehumanizing poverty for the rest of us. At least let the future find us lying at the wall in our fighting the power. Keep on fighting the good fight. like Diane, too. Best, Herb W. 🎺🖕☮💔❤🩹❤
Absolutely fucking brilliant! As a Di Prima fan, George Wallace brings her spirit back to life through his poem to her. I've listened to this 3 times already and I'm about to listen again. Check it out. Thanks for capturing this performance, Francine.
Rosmus rocks! Love hearing her bring her stories to life😈
Cindy Rosmus’ story, “Slippery”, was as gritty and gorgeous as her perfect accent.
I love Paul's "interruption," early! Yay, Francine!
much love!
I knew this man as far back as 1987. From the start, he was always a catchy act. His easy demeanor and clean material is a welcome legacy back to the 80s, but still funny material today. It proves that filthy and aggressive humor isn't always what make a funny comedian.
Mr. Marko! Still an easy delivery. After all these years, still smooth on the stage...paced, deliberate. The stand-up comedians of today could use his clean, solid act as an example. This is Mr. Manzo, signing off.
Excellent!

Love the image for the thumbnail. Thank you for that, Jeff.

Great reading Linda! Love "Taking the F Train"
Congratulation Linda on Taking the F Train...
I loved the energy in this. Well done
Thanks for posting this clip from the "Tapping into New York" series I produced at Cornelia Street Cafe. I was expecting to hear Fred Simpson perform, based on identifier. Fred punctuates Ron's reading with occasional drumming, but he always had his own reader segment. I recommend you check out Fred Simpson in June 2016 show, if you want to be blown away!
George has such a gift for evoking a certain mood, scene, the dance of a relationship, recognizable, ephemeral, unforgettable...melding the personal moment with a larger populist tapestry....
A whole world in a single poem... a journey...
Rich imagery! I was transported immediately into the poem and shared in the experience.
hilarious!
Wonderful poem, George! <3
