Full of tennis and 1 State Farm commercial I was in. Neither have worked out as a career choice.
UTR 8.5+ Doubles Tennis w/ Kane vs. Bart/Ben (6-3, 4-6, 3-1)
Played a fun competitive match in 30 degree C (or mid 80s F) heat as a tuneup for an upcoming competition. First time playing with Bart and also first time taking a set off of Ben.
I struggled a bit with first serve percentage but found it towards the end. Luckily, Kane's a bit of a net god and we managed to pull through with minimal breaks. This time around, I finally got some good looks on Ben's serve and was able to get in front of it and send it crosscourt.
It was a fun bit of a matchup of styles with Ben and I comfortable swinging out from the back and Kane and Bart crashing net.

Played against an excellent and seasoned young duo that held serve so well. Charlie was absolutely on fire throughout the 2 hours and his level never dropped. Kane and I took a bit of time and tried a bunch of things like switching sides...which was incrementally effective. Ultimately, just got outplayed despite the close scoreline for most of the match.

Fun early morning doubles rotation on a slick court. It was tough to get a good look on Ben's serve Kane remained ever steady all across the court. Scoreline was so close but mentally it felt like we were getting crushed. Too many double faults where I had to make adjustments to take a bit off the serve which unfortunately led to us getting punished by great returns. Started recording after the first game which included a clean serve/volley from me. Guess I just have to do that more. Jonathan's one of my regular hitting partners and preferred doubles partner. The first set stayed close until I made a slight adjustment towards the end with trying to hit with a bit more height and spin which may have been the difference maker to get me across the finish line.

Nice play. Trent was serving big yep! He will make mistakes though. Hang in the point, make him do things he doesn't want to. You both look very comfortable at the baseline. Make him move forward and backward i think.

too much wrist extension on your serve.. missing a chunk of power!
and a critique about your backhand, if you watch the second point, your hands are shoulder height on your backswing, almost impossible to get under the ball to get height over the net. Forehand side looks pretty good though!
Ooh, I've never thought about wrist extension. Do you mean to keep it a bit less loose through the swing?
@@jynlude if you hit a boxing bag your wrist would be neutral and fist clenched, right? so when you're hitting a serve, instead of allowing your wrist to move backwards you want to lift your elbow higher so you use rotation from your shoulder > extend your elbow > then focus on your forearm pronation. If the wrist is moving too much to get say the racquet to drop lower during the backswing you're then leveraging one of the weakest points of your arm.

Unlucky Jeff! For whatever my opinion is worth, I thought you played well just that Tim was very consistent and you made a few too many unforced errors that you can easily adjust in future. 6-0 doesn't reflect the performance - chin up and back stronger!

Thanks! Yeah I'm still trying to figure out better depth/placement on my approach shots but ultimately I didn't want to try to grind it out all set. His forehand was too good and I struggle getting under his slices (especially on the slick surface). Thanks for the feedback!

Yah, it's frustrating, but I also need to learn how to overcome this. I think I need to start finding a middle ground where it's not a winner attempt, but also not a shot that they can attack. He had such good lobs that I started to get tentative going to net. At least we got them in the doubles final which clinched the overall victory for us
Wow! CLEARLY, you've done some serious work on your game! Yeah, you've learned some critical points on your serve, getting your chest up and swinging around your chest. Difficult to do. Most players never get there. Just a tip. The idea is to first, before anything, achieve a full arm swing by taking the arm and shoulder through its full range of motion. First priority is to get from the starting internal shoulder and arm rotation("The Trophy Pose") to full external rotation("The Racquet Drop") and back to internal rotation while wrapping around the body, similar to any throwing motion. A huge key is never allowing wrist extension("The Waiter's Tray Serve"). Make sense? Let me know what you think?

yeah, i'm not sure if he was just over it since this set was played after he lost 2 lopsided sets in doubles to me and my partner. when his forehand landed, it stayed low and really flat, but it didn't seem like he had another gear
