The centre of dual carriageway was nos 4 and 5 tram. Replaced by buses mid 50s. I went to school from 1951 on 72 bus. Hunts Cross to The Philharmonic Hall.

Looks like quite a posh neighbourhood, yet they always go on about the Beatles being working class. It probably costs a fortune to buy a house there now.

I pass this every day on my way to work and back ,my friend used to live across the road from his house in the 90s .Its a lovely area .

You always think that the crossing is in the middle of a long road, because all the pictures of it are shooting in that direction, but like shown here it is very close to a junction. They urgently need to create a dedicated shrine to the Beatles, all there is, is this bit of road. I think they should turn the whole Abbey road studio into a beatles/pop museum. I am sure they would make far more money than what they do now. Also think of the amount of tourism the Beatles generate, the least they could do is to give fans somewhere to go.

The name of the place was Strawberry FIELD, singular... Even in the famous song, a lot of folks don't know that the opening lyric is "Let me take you down, 'cause I'm going to Strawberry Field..." Then the wishful phrase "Strawberry Fields Forever" puts it in the plural, as if to say "May there always be places like Strawberry Field". A fine point, but that's the name of the place, not "Strawberry Fields" plural, which was just in the title of the song. Artists have recorded covers of the song making this mistake.

Lennon occasionally liked to put on an act about being a working class product. But this video (and other similar ones) show that his upbringing was middle class through and through.

Thank you very much for uploading the precious video. I visited John's house and Strawberry F. almost 30 years ago. It's a great memory, but I didn't walk like this way from John's house. It brings my memory back in my mind and now I can draw a new image of how John used to play in his childhood.

Every time i drive past John's old house, i look up at the bedroom window & say " alright John lad", even though i only live 10 minute's away from these 2 places, its still a thrill to see them, at 68 i just missed out on the lads, but my sister used to go & watch them in the Cavern in the early 60s. They did us proud they did.

The song is so surreal and dreamy compared to the reality of the place itself.

It’s a nice area but a busy ol’ road. We go over to Liverpool city centre regularly as my son lives there. The firm he works for was involved in some work at the strawberry fields community centre? a couple of years ago. He probably didn’t truly appreciate the enormity of it being younger. I was impressed tho..

If you walked a few houses down the other way from Lennons aunties house, there was a children's remand home,(now demolished) which was run by cruel twisted people. It had bar's on the windows and the curtains were closed, the kids played table tennis on three tables all day, if you got caught looking out the window, some big 20 stone teacher would chase you and stick his black Dr Martens shoe up your backside. This place was something out of a Dickens novel but worse. I still have flash back from witnessing and receiving some brutal punishment. This place was no Strawberry fields, everything was real, and lots to get hung up about, oh and all the staff were off their tree. Due to unfortunate circumstances, mister May won't be able to play the organ today, but perhaps he will tomorrow.

There are places I remember.

I didn't expect John's childhood home to be on such a busy street. I expected it was tucked in a neighborhood that had a tiny steet and little traffic. Maybe it was like that back then....

That street corner, in front of the apartment complex where they lived, is where John's mother died. She was anxiously waiting for him to come home because it had gotten late.

I lived in Liverpool for 20 years and had no idea that Strawberry Fields was an actual place. You live and learn.

They weren't geniuses, they were just in the right place at the right time. I remember the rise of the Beatles and they were exciting at the time because they were different. Then the Rolling Stones came along and blew everyone away. Also Eric Burden and the Animals...real music not plastic pop.

Nice neighborhood for Liverpool. Detached houses. Ringo didn’t grow up like that for sure.

So is Strawberry Fields closed? Also, should've been a close-up of the sign outside John's/Aunt Mimi's house, and a close up of the Menlove Avenue sign.

Not sure why you couldn't zero in on the signs at his house so we could read them, too. Would have been interested to read them.
