If I was a betting man and they really are similar conditions, ect… I’d pay the $1500 more for a sienna or try to talk them down to 3k… I’ve also driven one of these with over 400k miles, original motor, original transmission and running perfect! • @FishingAndCars
      @FishingAndCars 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jordanmitchell-e3g Maintenance history matters lots. I’d also recommend a pre purchase inspection by someone with car knowledge whom you trust. I do believe there are many good reliable examples out there that would still have lots of life ahead of them, while also some that may have run their course… Engine timing belt and water pump, how’s that transmission and how often the fluid was changed, checking for rust issues, AWD system and suspension looking like it should and feeling like it should… any check engine lights? Check exhaust system, and more!ect… it also depends on what buying price is and if this vehicle would be a every day driver 20-25k a year might be tough… just lots of variables to consider but I do believe many of these are capable of 500k miles… always helps to have a bit of luck as well! 😊

    • @Rob774

      Far from a mechanic, but I'd be wary of 300k even with the big 3(Honda, Toyota, Suburu). Even when well-maintained, you are at the end of the life of that vehicle. That being said, at that mileage, most things (belts, pumps, etc) have had to be replaced at least once by now.😂

    • @FishingAndCars
      @FishingAndCars หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Rob774 it’s all about value and needs… if you can get a vehicle really cheap because of that mileage and don’t intend on driving it a crazy amount of miles, you can have years of use :-) vehicles are too expensive lol, people lose money all the time on cars, casino, ect… why not take an educated guess/roll of the dice? I bought a 4 runner several years ago for $1k with 340k miles on it, used it two years and then sold it for $1900, driving 3-4 times a weeks to help keep wear off my daily… it was fun and I made money on it! If it's over 300k, reliability is well below 50%. I suggest u let it go. I bought a 500k kilometres plus honda accord, can't say it wasn't reliable but I've spent alot fixing stuffs at their expiration. So far, it didn't leave me stranded but sure spent alot on maintenance so far, cuz I pay attention to strange noises n abnormal feel.

      @ it’s all relative, so price and life… if you can spend 5-7% cost of new, for 25-50% life as a knock around car why not? I’ve bought a rig for $3000 that I could drive across the country and back, and also a $40,000 dollar rig… It’s almost always worth maintenance here and there to keep a used car going vs losing your a** on a new car lol 😊💯 but yeah you’ll spend money here and there on used/older…

    Nice find. I have an 05 with 176K on it, (Montana) bought it from the original owner. Mine is the base model, 3.3l AWD, 3rd row seats with the tow package. It's in super clean condition also, no rust, was garaged most of it's life. There are no TPMS sensors in the wheels. These models have wheel speed sensors on the hubs. You might pull the wheels and see if the wires are attached and sensors are there. I just put a new windshield in mine cost $325, had the original in it, had lots of pitting and 5 rock chips in it. I have owned mine for 5 years. You can also reset the low tire pressure sensor on it, there is a button under the dash on the left side. Putting the new tires on it may be what triggered the warning light. There are videos here on YT that will show you how to reset it, it's really easy. I would start there first. I just love mine and it does fantastic on icy roads and snow, with snow tires on it, if you get those conditions where you live. Hope you enjoy your Highlander for many years. I know a lady where I live and she had an 05, with 376k on it! Still ran great, these are known to push 400k with proper maintenance. Good to hear your up on the maintenance, your totally right about that. We have got 24 mpg during the summer on highway trips. Wow! That’s awesome! I wouldn’t care about dents as long as unibody is straight who cares?!? That should have so soooo much life ahead of it! And to think you could have spent $26,500 on a newer car… hard pass for me lol but I would have picked that up too if it was near me so great find! 💯😂😊

      Yeah you can buy lots of gas and maintenance and repairs(IF needed) for that difference and quite honestly even Toyota isn’t making things like they did with the newest stuff IMO… My brother still has his matrix almost 300k miles on it, runs perfect and surprisingly doesn’t leak a drop of anything… great little cars!!! 😊

    i just got a 98 sienna with 200k when my forrester cvt started dying. got a cross country move soon ill be using the sienna for. im the 3rd owner, all services were done with records. drive like a dream. mine is the xle w/ towing package but no hitch and never towed. i think the factory towing package comes with a bigger transmission cooler and helps keep that transmission in great shape especially when not towing.

    • @FishingAndCars
      @FishingAndCars 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s right! Mine has a cooler as well but no hitch was even bolted up although one can be! I’m up to almost 187k in mine and it’s literally like driving a new van lol! I’m happy for you! Thank you for the comment! 💯😊

    Doesn't get good gas mileage :/ OMG it's filthy and had so much wrong with it. Have a Ford much older than that so you know it is going to start. Not sure what's so great about it.

      Hey thanks for the comment! You got to have one to appreciate! We love AWD at 28 miles per gallon, we love 300,000 miles and climbing on the original motor and transmission, original gear boxes, even bearings on this gem… and we love that we could floor this(wide open throttle) 100+ straight times from a dead stop up to freeway speeds with zero issues, as if it’s driven off the lot for the first time! Those are just a handful of things, and out of all my fords, and other makes honestly, I have never had that confidence! And my brother and myself love that we paid $2000 for it! Lol 😂

      @@FishingAndCars Well when you've always had cars that got over 30mpg except for one an SUV built on a truck chassis that could do truck things and could plow through 3 feet of snow, it really spoils you.

    • @FishingAndCars
      @FishingAndCars 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh man yeah that’s pretty spoiling! 😊 I love these matrix’s but anything over a foot of snow is sketchy a bit as it just doesn’t have the clearance, for what it is as a whole it’s great! Part of me having over 100 different cars in my lifetime is appreciating almost all of them for the things they bring to the table! I’m a bigger guy, an s10 for example is a really small truck to sit in, a ford ranger is also a small truck but I had all the room in the world it felt like sitting in it! And it had cruise! I loved that little ranger lol… there’s lots of pros to most vehicles! I’m having a hard time really getting into the brand new ones, I just don’t think they are worth the money and will hold up as the older ones have…

      @@FishingAndCars I own a 2004 Matrix base model with a 5 speed, 37 MPG exclusively highway going 78-85 MPH, 30-31 combined, 28 MPG city (23-25 at the lowest), but it's super fun to toodle around in! I've had it for 5 years and put 14k miles on it, no problems at all. Only major thing I needed to overhaul was the cooling system, but you kind of expect that in a 20 year old car.

    • @FishingAndCars
      @FishingAndCars 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@myk1_sp that’s awesome! These things are just really neat cars… not trying to dis on a Corolla because they are brothers lol but the Matrix is just so much more fun to drive! My brother-in-law still has this car as his daily driver… no issues! 💯😊

    • @myk1_sp
      @myk1_sp 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @FishingAndCars Hell yeah, I would absolutely love to drive a 9th gen Corolla to see the difference in driving dynamics! The Matrix likely has a bumpier ride, but it doesn't bother me too much (maybe in 50 years it might haha), and the handling is buttery smooth. I'm keeping it until the engine, transmission, or the cancer eats it away, then I may part it out and make some dough if I was insane enough. 😂😁
