I couldn’t follow your instructions because of clicking and high pitched noises all the time. Difficult with headphones on. Do try it.
Thanks for the feedback! I’ve tried listening with headphones and didn’t notice clicking, but there is music in the background that might be what you’re hearing. I’ll keep this in mind for future videos. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts!
Thank you for tutorial
Very helpful! Thank you!
So glad to hear that, thanks so much! 😊
Great video, thanks for sharing
Thanks so much! Glad it helped 😊
This tutorial is a saviour, i followed the steps and it worked perfectly fine, now i can finally use all those beautiful glyphs. Thank you so much Nicole 🫶
Thanks so much, glad to hear it helped!
It’s not working :( I’m using the “Screen Size” canvas (roughly ~12”x16”) and I imported the single png file of the 8” ruler into a new layer, but Procreate automatically stretched the ruler to fit the full size of the canvas. It does the same thing if I copy the file and paste it in. How do I stop it from doing this?
The rulers will stay accurate only if you copy and paste them into a document that's exactly the same size as the Procreate file templates provided. If you're using a different canvas size, you'll need to import the single PNG file instead-it will retain its proper size that way. I’ve checked using the screen size canvas, and it worked fine on my end, so I’m having trouble replicating the issue. Could you double-check to make sure you're inserting the PNG rather than pasting it? You can do this by going to the Actions menu > 'Add' tab > 'Insert a file' and selecting the PNG file. Let me know if that helps!
Thank you for this so helpful tutorial. Hope you can respond. I need to print my artworks out as a book, but I made a huge mistake of drawing them all in RGB and 150 dpi. I watched some tutorials on TH-cam and finally figured out how to change color profile from RGB to CMYK with the new 300 dpi. My question is the new version (CMYK and 300 dpi) is fine to print out as a book? Or this changing is just for screen display on iPad because the original one is only 150 dpi in RGB? Starting over whole this project is a nightmare to me :( Hope you can respond. I appreciate and thank you so much for your kindness.
Thank you for your kind words! I'm glad the tutorial was helpful! For printing, it's true that starting with 150 dpi can impact quality, especially if you're looking to print as a book with high-detail illustrations. Changing the color profile to CMYK and increasing to 300 dpi does help, but it can’t fully make up for the lower resolution of the original images. I’d recommend doing a test print if possible-that way, you can check if the quality is good enough without committing to a full print run. Some print services offer sample prints, which will help you. If the test print isn’t quite right, you may need to consider selectively reworking certain pages rather than redoing the entire project. Hope that helps!
@@iPadCalligraphy Sorry for late respond. Thank you so much for your answer. I appreciate alot❣Have a nice day!
I learned nothing from your video. Maybe my search was bad? I just wanted to print something. I want looking for how to get the best quality, just WHAT BUTTON IN WHAT MENU
There's no 'print' button in Procreate. Go to the 'Share' menu (from the wrench icon) and choose either jpg, tiff or psd. From the menu that comes up, choose 'print'. You need an AirPrint printer set up to print from your iPad. If you don't, share the file to a computer and print from there.
@iPadCalligraphy thank you. Sorry I was kinda harsh!
My favorite one is procreator
Thanks, (Karachi, Pakistan)
You're welcome, thank you! 😊
Lovely work as usual, Nicole…
Thank you so much!
This video was godsend! Thank you so much for your help! You now have a new subbie!
Happy to help! 😀
Beautiful. Skill at the highest level..👍👍👍
Thank you so much 🙏
Can you tell me what paper do you print on. I’ve learnt a lot from your videos
Yes, just can’t understand how people can’t see how their presentation is not working. When you go through something so fast. We try and rewind 15 times to catch what you blew over without us being able to see it. It’s like people who advertise a garage sale on a public post as a drive-by. But it’s written on a post it.
Absolutely lovely work again. Keep it going 😊👍
Thank you!
Lovely work as always👍😊
Thank you so much!
@@iPadCalligraphy …you’re very much welcome 👍
LOVE THIS! Very innovative!
Thanks so much! 😀
Please can you explain more about the process of exporting the artwork to affinity designer and change the colour to a precise colour. Thanks.
Yes, happy to expand… For the project I refer to in the video, I had some text that I needed to provide the printer in 100% K value (which is pure black). I exported the design from Procreate as a .psd file. I then opened it in Affinity Designer and made sure it was in CMYK mode. I was then able to select each layer of the text and by tapping on the colour circle in the top right menu, I can check the values. It needs to be set as ‘CMYK Sliders’ which is an option in the colour panel. I could then change the channels so that it was 100% K value with all other channels were 0% (C,M & Y). Hope that helps, but let me know if you have questions!
I'm really confused, even the cheap posters around my office use bright reds, yellows and pinks, I've never heard of printers not being able to print colours before. I'm trying to use CMYK and it looks so dull it's unreal
I totally get your frustration. Procreate is primarily a digital app that uses RGB color channels. It doesn't actually work with 4 separate CMYK channels, but instead, it simulates them to help prepare files for printing. Dull colors are a common result of this simulation. When it comes to printing, there are different processes, and not all of them rely solely on CMYK. For instance, some printers use Pantone colors, which are specific, pre-mixed inks that can produce much brighter and more vibrant colors than standard CMYK. Offset printing or screen printing can also handle colors differently, allowing for more vibrant results depending on the inks used. When working with digital art for printing, it can be tricky to match what you see on screen (in RGB) with what comes out in print (CMYK). Hope this helps!
Could you somehow export to Photoshop and match the colors somehow?
Super helpful thank you!
So glad to hear that, thank you 😊
Just tried the export png suggestion and it looks all pixelated. I am converting from CMYK to RGB. Not sure why this doesn’t work.
Did you create the new canvas at exactly the same size and resolution?
I found the mistake. I accidentally entered the dimensions in the pixel field! I tried to copy all layers and it worked after a few attempts. Yeah.
I am so glad I found this video. Thank you so much. It’s easier to follow than Procreate’s own explanation. I will try the png solution.
Very kind of you to share this information. Extremely helpful to know that it’s possible. Thank you 🙏
Glad it helped, thanks for watching!
Hi please answer soon, when i have change the cmyk more brighten as your suggest, is it also change when its printing in cmyk?
Unfortunately Procreate is not the best app for print preview. It's actually a RGB app and only simulates CMYK palette. If you really need to accurately see the print colours, you're better to use a CMYK app like Affinity Designer.
Wow❤
Great video! Thank you!
Thanks so much! Glad it was helpful

Hi, wondering if you share your tools? I’m wondering specifically about the shapes and ornaments. That sounds like a really great tool. And thank you very much. This is a great video!
Hi Bunny, thanks so much for your lovely comment! And I think we were talking on email. Incase I'm mistaken though, here is the link to the Ornaments pack - ipadcalligraphy.com/product/ornament-brushes/
Thank you! Btw, is there any specific reason to why we can’t repair the Apple tip?
Thank you so much. Its really helpful
You're very welcome! 😊
Very helpful. Thank you!
You're so welcome! ☺️
Can I print it after making these arrangements?
Yes! They might not be exactly the same as Procreate is only replicating the CMYK color palette. It's actually a 3-channel app. If you want a better representation, I suggest using Affinity Designer or Photoshop for any color preview before printing.

Is there a way to do this with colour because I keep trying and it’s just getting rid of the colour when I’m in adobe capture
Yes, there is a colour mode. From the ‘Shapes’ panel, tap the black and white icon in the left corner (the circle icon) and tap the colour palette icon to change to colour mode.
@@iPadCalligraphy thank you so so much this is really going to help!! I appreciate this immensely!😁
How can we use them ?

How can we write with a color pattern ? Its not a solid color right?
This is a gold texture with a layer mask applied to hide the layer. I then paint on the mask to reveal the gold 😊
Thanks heaps for putting this video together, Nicole. I often wondered if there was a way to access the alternate characters in Procreate - now I know, thanks to you! This is a game changer. I'm off to experiment. Thanks for sharing your knowledge - it's much appreciated. 🥰
You're so welcome Robby! Hope it opens a lot of creative options for you. Thanks for your lovely comment 😊
so what does one do? is there any way to circumvent this?
It depends on what you’re printing. If you’re printing full color and you don’t need to supply the printer with any specific values in the CMYK channels, it’s not really an issue. Procreate can still produce great print quality and will give you a pretty good gauge of how your print will turn out. If you need to supply specific values, like in the gold foil cards I show in the video where I needed 100% K (black), my suggestion is to run the artwork through another app to export. I opened my artwork in Affinity Designer and changed the color of what I wanted to print in gold to 100%K.
A mí me la modificaron en la imprenta porque algunos de los colores claros se veían oscuros y los tonos medio oscuros se veían demasiado oscuros. Otros colores se notaban demasiado claros.
This has been a pain for me for years. I’ve paid good money for the fonts and it has been annoying to have to go to another program to use them. Thank you so much!
So glad it helps! 😊
thank you so much!!! This is so helpful!!

Ничего не поняла,но перчаточка просто очаровательная, а голос ммлый))❤
Thank you very helpful video. I find that RGB setting Display P3 works well for my prints at home. I also submitted artwork on my business card in using this setting and it turned out super well (printed by Canva).
Thanks for watching! Oh wow, that's interesting. P3 is a special RGB format that has more saturated colors. It's usually a digital format (like the iPad in particular), but glad it worked well for you 😊
Thank you so much!! 🎉
You're welcome, I'm glad it helped!
