Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalex!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Kiernan from mountain camp)
That summer he worked at this camp and I was at It
I’ve got a countess I use weekly. I prefer it to my automatic
Hello alex its jack session 3 shasta i hope your doing well and have a great rest of your summer!
Very educational, like going back in time, but I still like the old Retro Automatic washing machines better.
This is beautiful! I myself have been having fun lately building an alcohol torch using a design I kinda invented, just out of copper sheet and copper tubing - there is still some more tuning to be done but it doesn't work too bad and it's been quite fun (I have a short clip showing it on my shitty channel), so this video is highly interesting to me. I wanna build one of these now, much better design than mine lol :)
Alex and Julie Watched all your epic journey episodes in one go. What an incredible achievement. Two amazing people and a legendary piece of engineering. I love your P50. I have a collection of over thirty bubble and micro cars including a trident but not a P50. Really enjoyed your commentaries and Julie’s happy smile. Love to visit your engineering workshop one day. Best wishes Jam
Interesting. I did have couple if those old torches from my grandfather. Never knew how to use them. I don't know wot happen to them. Cheers Graham
Yo alex, it’s cord form session 1 2024, what museum is it in also what castle did you get a job offer from

Thank you for putting this up. Cool history.

Hello Great video by the way and jolly well done with raising the funds for the children! Can I ask is the car you used in the video an original 1960s one or one of the modern reproduction ones made at the current trading Peel company in England? And you say you did 50 mph!! I thought the repros can only do 28 mph.
Around 4:25 till the end … The 2 guys in the background, Who were looking out to sea… Me & my brother doing our own tour of Scotland 🏴 We left Manchester & went along the full coast & also went inland to see a few sites too Then along the coast back to Manchester 😊 It’s like our first time was perfectly planned to see the sights while hearing the delightful sound of bagpipes in the background, Thank you 🙏 It made our trip even better, Also the little car was cool to get a few pictures of aswell.

A very clear explanation..thanks
My mother had several "wringer" washers. She didn't want an automatic and only got one under protest, but she ended up liking it. Years later, we got her an automatic dishwasher, which she ended up loving because she hated doing dishes.
Very interesting. I'm almost 77 years old and remember my mother using one of these machines. Here in the USA, Hotpoint was made by our General Electric Co. And, we call the mangler the wringer. And, yes, my mother goofed and ran her hand through the wringer, she panicked and hit the reverse lever instead of the release bar. Where are you from, and did GE make this washer?
There is a Wikipedia article covering Hotpoint and the history of the brand in the US & UK
Hello! I'm a collector of vintage wringer washers, and also restore them for museums. Great video - very thorough in your instructions and demo!
Fantastic video & amazing museum 😊
Hi Alex, great video. I have one just like the one you tested. Will it run efficiently on C2 Kerosene or must it be the ridiculously expensive C1 @ £3/l please?
I think I have bought it for around £11 for 5 L
But will it run on C2 kerosene heating oil?
A well presented video. But I have a question: Your modern blowtorch I suspect from the colour was Mapp gas, my modern torch is butane/ propane powered ( blue or silver cans) which I believe is not quite as hot as Mapp, so does the old burner beat butane/ propane? I ask because I am about to restore exactly the same paraffin model and hope to braze so I am hoping for the higher temperature.
Handsome man.
What an utterly fantastic video and an awesome museum, defiantly would love to visit it. Thanks for creating this video 👍👍
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it
Congratulations on a great video Alex - a miniature masterpiece in keeping with the collection! I wonder how many hours of dedication and workmanship are represented there. I was at the museum just last week but learned a lot more by watching this - you've really done it justice.
Great piece! Amazing museum, and lovely folks there!
wish I had known about the museum when I visited the UK June 2023, I spent my last 3 days in England in the Bighton/Worthing area before returning home to Australia, great video, cheers, Garry from DownUnder
Hey Alex its been a while, its Evan by the way, I changed my profile. I'm going to be visiting London this summer, any suggestions of where i should go?
Hello, shame I'll be in the US while your over here, London has a lot to offer, I think your like the imperial War museum
Have known it was there for years, but never been, as I live locally, must make the effort to visit, good publicity for the Museum!
absolutely , go on down, say you saw it on Forward to the past, say Hello to my P50, I remember only visiting the pavilion in Brighton a few years ago for the first time, if its on your door step your less likely to go haha
It’s great to finally see this!
Fantastic video, Alex. A great place to park the Peel while you are away this summer, too. It fits in so well there. Someone needs to take on a project to make a full-sized Matchbox Series type box for it to be kept in. I used to have the Hornby train sets when I was a child - I remember having the Flying Scotsman and a few others but sadly the phase passed quickly and I moved on to Scalextric slot car race sets. I had a lot a of cars/trucks and track and modified and repainted a lot of the cars. Did they have any Scalextric there? 👍🏻
Hey, they didn't have scaletrics there, a lot of the collection was 60s backwards , such a wonderful place to visit
Great old machine to play with, Alex. I have a new-ish Hoover automatic but I also have a 1970s Hotpoint twin tub. As i grew up we had, in sequence, a Hoover single tub with the hand cranked mangle, a 1960s Hoover twin tub with a manual rinse and then later on another Hoover twin tub with an automatic rinse facility. It had an orange (1970s trendy ! ) swivel spout that doubled up as a wash tub filler also. When that eventually died we had the Hotpoint twin tub which I think, on balance was a little superior to the Hoover. Now from nostalgia I bought a Hotpoint one again from ebay and enjoy getting my hands wet doing a bit of laundry. Keep up the good work Olde Chappe
I love the moustache. Very handsome !
Alex I have to know are you coming back to camp again this summer?!!?!
I am thrilled to say, yes I am!
@@forwardtothepast2411 YAAAAAAA 🎉🎉
wow - you're so HOT!!!
I remember machines like this when i was a kid in the 50s and 60s. My mum had the Countess. I think the rollers were officially called a wringer, rather than a mangle. And the recommended washing action time was 12 minutes! I remember that, but i can barely remember what I had for breakfast this morning!
I found that really interesting, well explained and entertaining. I remember when I was a kid in the 70's my Mum using a toploader Hotpoint, which looked more modern than yours in the video. No mangle, but some program buttons along the top.
there is something about old appliances that stick with us, these old things just had more character
@@forwardtothepast2411 Could say that about a lot of things (don't get me started on cars & buses). Bonne continuation.
Probably the Hotpoint 1504. Good machines but they unfortunately used a huge amount of water.
Greetings from France. My first time on your channel, when I just stumbled on this video. Excellent footage in Brooklands, particularly the WW2 aircraft and buses (worked for a bus company in the UK 30 years ago). Oh and the van, which I recognise as I've seen a few of them at various car shows over here. There were two identical to yours, parked in a car port thing in our village at one time. Although, those were ex military ambulances. Great video & bonne continuation.
Hello Welcome to the channel , glad you enjoyed the video, I look forward to seeing you here again soon
@@forwardtothepast2411 Thanks. The Children in Need Peel P50 video was excellent BTW.
Nice video. Ive gotten sick a few times when working on my old cars, bikes or camper and find it best to leave it a lone for a while and come back to it a couple of days later. Also bashed my head a couple of times when using the post basher - no fun at all. Not knocked myself out yet though. Keith seems a bit grumpy ; ) hope you can get him on side 😂
found one in trash...and before i knew suddenly i have over 40 stoves....i live in sweden and its alot easier to get these stoves - they are everywhere...BUT lately prices have skyrocketed to insane levels...its a fun hobby that you can make some money on...sometimes alot of money...
Greetings from Dublin Éire 🇮🇪. Great to see and hear the updates on what you've been doing. I like your eclectic jobs and abilities. Glad to see Jodie got her own van too. Can we get a look around both vans including any repairs etc
I'll have to get some shots in Joely's van too
Who can I send my musical Jolly chimp to for Repair. It looks pristine everywhere but it is not working with 2-D batteries.
Try using a wire brush and scrap the metal a little bit where the batteries go cause I just bought 1 couldn't get it to work either and I tried doing that and it started working
Must put Brooklands on the list of places to visit next time I’m back home in the UK. It’s good that you are allowed to weave in your own stories to the teachings there - so important that stories like those are kept alive now the original storytellers are no longer with us. I used to be a frequent visitor to Middle Farm, even before there was a shop there. My grandparents lived at the end of the next road going towards Eastbourne. How long are you going to be in the States this year - off there soon? 👍🏻
thanks for your comment, I'll be in the US from Mid May to early September
Great video Alex! You certainly do fit right in at Brooklands, that's for sure. Jodie's van looks cool, A Talbot like mine except mine's a camper, not a motorhome, small and cosy like your van Alex 🙂 Looking forward to more 👍🐕🚐👊
Great video! Brooklands would be mad not to give you full employment - you’re a natural! I couldn’t have that van without getting some new air pipes to maintain pressure in the suspension or shortening the starter cable! It would drive me mad! I’ve never been to Brooklands Museum but would definitely go if you were on duty. Happy vanning!
awesome
Great video, must say that you really do look as though you'd fit in well at Brooklands👍🏻
Great video Alex, thanks for sharing!
