I feel like I'm watching that Santa Claus video again

How do you paint partially along the elliptical paths? It looks as if your brush is constrained to the path but only as far as you choose to paint along it. The only similar method I can find is brush strokes on paths that follow the entire path no matter what I do. Or is this just the appearance of path following due to the speed of the film and it is really just selection tools and painting constrained within selections .....except I can't see any "dancing ants" ( animated selection dashed line)?

Awesome lighting and so much depth :). And drawing this in 80 minutes is much more awesome again :D

Make tutorials on how can you manage to start without a sketch and what is a technique behind those shadow/highlights starter and then proceeding with detailing. I am amazed how you can pull off from your imagination so much up to the level where you draw highlights on top of something that has not been drawn yet...
