    Hey! So the problem you're running into is called a "ligature" which is a typography thing when the letters or cross bars would overlap the letter next to them. Because your lettering has an underlying arc that naturally separates the characters you need to use the independent glyphs and turn off ligatures. I'm not sure how your software handles such things but here's a few things that might help: F and L with a "zero width, non-breaking space" between them to keep the ligatures from forming: FL There is an invisible space character between those two letters. If you copy and paste it it will take 3 hits on the arrows keys left or right to cross it because of that... Here are a few words with the same space character between them. LoremIpsumDolorSit

      @MaracasEmbroidery 24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you so much @rugbybeef. So another thing for me to learn ... ligature, okay, that is good to know. I will be circling back to this design in the not to distant future and I'll try to let you know how it all worked out for me. I appreciate you so much, seriously, what a great community we have here on YT. ⚽

    Number two. All embroidery programs and machines only do three stitches. Single line or walk stitch. A fill and a satin stitch. The only reason you hear them called something else is that a manufacturer has patented a fancy name for these 3 stitches. The 3 stitches are used for different things. A satin stitch is only good for about 60 mm wide. They are pretty, but any wider than that would cause the stitches to get snagged on something and rip out. They are a top stitch. A fill stitch is for large areas to be covered. They are a shorter stitch and as they sew you have a much smaller needle penetration. This stitch is tightly into the fabric. Not easy to snag on something. A walking stitch is used to get from one element to another below the fill or satin stitch. They can also be used for fine detail such as a vein on top of a leaf. If you would like to see how much detail you might be able to get on these stitches, I recommend going to Balboa thread works. Lee is the master at fine detailed art with embroidery. Her stuff cannot be run at 800 stitches per minute because of the detail. I just wanted to use her artwork as an example of what is possible. She is the embroidery artist goat. I am not advertising for her, I just wanted the newbie’s to see what is possible once you get the digitizing down.

    Raster is pixel based. That means if you enlarge it on the screen it has rough edges. They are a little more difficult to trace because of that. They are basically pictures. Vector images are math generated. You can scale them as large or small without changing the smooth outline. They are much easier to trace because of the smooth lines. A vector file in Design Shop can be turned into stitches very easy with a click of a few buttons. However you will still need to make some small adjustments to it. Let’s face it, for the most part digitizing is tracing some sort of artwork in order to put stitches to it. If you bring in a raster image to Design Shop and trace it, you now have a vector image with the tracing that you have done not the original raster. Vector images can be blown up to print on a billboard or shrunk to a 3.5” logo without losing the clarity. Now remember that all artwork is not good for embroidery. Sometimes if it has too much detail it is hard to get that detail in a 3.5” logo.

      You should really be teaching this preliminary stuff on YT. I spend more time researching terms than actually digitizing because I'm at zero and even though I am learning a lot, it's the meanings of the lingo that stalls me a bit. I'll get it though. Thank you so much for always stepping in and helping me out friend. I missed you at today's live. I hope all is well.

    Sorry, .75mm is about 3 to 4 points. You need about 8 to 10 points wide to avoid thread breaks. If you look at the stitches tab on the lower left corner. Look at the stitch length. A few 3,4,5,6 in a row will give you many thread breaks and headaches. I try to keep most of them between 8-10 minimum.

    These designs are probably expanded file types. They are much more difficult to fix than an ofm file or your software native file system. When you try to fix an expanded file, it will sometimes distort the design. An expanded file is just a list of needle penetrations on the x and y movement with a color change. Nothing else. They also don’t hold color values. Most of the designs purchased from any of the websites are expanded. The issue is that these purchased designs are done for many different machines. Some work better than others. On a multi needle machine using a 75/11 needle the design needs a minimum of 10 points on the width. You can sew to a point less than 10 points, however many needle penetrations on anything less than 10 points will get you many thread breaks. A person doing the digitizing is always better than a conversion. Just this one lesson will improve the success of everyone’s embroidery experience. Some people only buy designs and never do any digitizing. Digitizing is time consuming but the results are worth the effort.

    • @MaracasEmbroidery

      I love the information you are sharing because you know I'm on my embroidery journey. I agree with you that digitizing is time consuming but the end results will be worth it for me. After dealing with a design that I don't know how to fix I am sure that learning digitizing will help me. I have to learn what you mean by points but it's already on my list of notes and questions as I move forward on my training. Do you have a YT channel? Please share it if you do. On your small cones, place the white Maderia cups that came with the machine under them. Take the black thread stabilizers off. That will stop the thread from getting stuck below the spool while you are stitching. Less thread breaks using the smaller cones.

    I use 6mm visquine from Home Depot. It’s pretty cheap and is strong enough to hold the design. The only downside is it doesn’t come off of the back of the design. However it will hold the chenille together. I also use it on the patches that I make.

    • @MaracasEmbroidery
      @MaracasEmbroidery หลายเดือนก่อน

    The 75/11 needle is.75 mm or about 8 points. You need 10 points minimum so you don’t have thread breaks. You can go to a smaller needle and smaller thread. When you layer too many layers on top of each other it will also create thread breaks. Usually when you layer more than two layers on top of each other the density on the first layer needs to be lightened up.

    • @MaracasEmbroidery
      @MaracasEmbroidery หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, I learned that so many layers caused so many thread breaks. Learning digitizing will certainly help me in the future.

    Get a couple of spare bobbins. Set them up so when 1 runs out you just stick the next one in.

    The lettering looks great. The design has way too many layers for something that small. The 75/11 needle is .75 mm. That is about 8 points. The machine sews best with 10 points or more. That is why you are getting so many thread breaks on this. Lower right corner of DS 12 you have a design checker tab. Click it and you will see it.

      I haven't gotten that far yet but omg, thank you for this quick tutorial. I am always trying to learn so now I will add what you said about points to my lessons. Idk what points is. 😞 I'm going to click that "design checker tab" and see what happens.

      The checker works with omg files best. Expanded is not as good but it gives you an idea of what you are looking for. Points are stitch measurements. Look up points to metric conversion chart.

    Patience is your best friend. Buy some Mighty hoops. Only buy the ones that you will use. This takes care of hooping easily. Hooping with the old style hoops is difficult unless you have done it for a while. Now you can concentrate on the fun stuff.

      I have two 5"x5". I'm saving $$$ for the next size I'd like and I'd like to have two of those too. This way something is stitching out while I am hooping the next one. I agree, Mighty Hoops are wonderful.

      They will increase your production on filling your orders. You can almost hoop the same way every time without any sore fingers from adjusting the tension
