ASAF (African Students and Alumni Forum) is a platform of volunteers who have benefitted from EU-funded international mobility scholarships. ASAF is funded by the European Union's Erasmus+ programme and managed by the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA).
Relive the highlights of the 3rd ASAF Annual General Forum, held on 6-7 September 2024 in Cotonou, Benin. ASAF members, external partners, and other esteemed guests came together in this dynamic event to celebrate quality education in Africa and cooperation with the EU, as well as to set future goals.
Day 1’s highlights included the ASAF 3rd Annual Public Conference at Abomey-Calavi University, moderated by Dr. Roshan Halkhoree and Dr. Namikoye Samita Everlyne. It featured engaging panel discussions on Africa-EU collaboration in education, such as: “Africa-EU collaboration to promote quality education: Perspective from networks of EU-funded students and alumni” and the Youth Mobility for Africa Flagship Initiative, which promotes learning mobility opportunities within Africa and between Africa and the EU.
Day 2’s highlights included a meeting of members presenting ASAF’s structure, the Board’s activity report and the early plan for September 2024-July 2025. Each ASAF Task Force, including the Committee of Mobility, Inclusion and Diversity, and Co-Ambassadors, held parallel sessions to develop their future plans and strategies.
The event concluded with a cultural dinner showcasing the rich diversity of over thirty countries where ASAF is active.
It was a remarkable opportunity to put forward challenging topics and seek solutions that can drive Africa forward, as well as to celebrate quality education across Africa.
