I love the line, 'A lonely impulse of delight/Drove to this tumult in the clouds.' Isn't that the essence of the tragic nature of the human condition? We like to wrap ourselves in grand notions of nation, duty, brotherhood; but in the end, we are all seeking tumult in our particular balance-'In balance with this life, this death.' The past and future exist in the mindful actions of the present, where the transcendental and the material are not separate but one.
What a lovely reading of this poem! Thank you so much for sharing it.
I could listen to this Legend all day
im feelin it!
Thanks so much!
beautiful poem and recitation.
Thank you! We agree-Willie is a legend.
Beautifully read!
What a poem, so beautiful🥺
Thank you!
May I thank each and every one of you for your sympathy and kind words. They mean so much to me. Thank you. And thank you Simon. It’s like you can see how many pieces my heart is in. It’s been several months since I lost Lenny and it’s been harder than I can imagine. A nurse told me it takes a year and a day to do the first of things, like going to special places and doing things we used to do. People have been lovely and kind and supportive and I thank everyone for that. But like everyone has in their life the loss of someone you love is just awful. So thank you everyone again and to my Lenny if you can see you tube wherever you are. I love you and miss you more than words can say. Thank you everyone.😘
It’s so beautiful
Thank you! 🙌
❤
Can we get this on Spotify, pretty please 💚
I got goosebumps at the cinematography! Excellent recital by Freddie.
Many thanks! 🙏🌟
so beautiful
Thank you!
The production quality for the films on this channel is always high... but this is a cut above the rest. Very well shot. Feels rather inspired by Tarkovsky's movies.
Wow, that's high praise-thank you so much!
Thank you so much for this lovely comment! I directed the film and can tell you you are absolutely spot on about the Tarkovsky comment :)
Oh gawd... tissue please - a beautiful read sir.
We agree; he's phenomenal!
My year is made. Great poem. On the other side of, the "no kill" zone
Thank you so much! 🙏
Lovely ❤
🙏✨
wonderful.
beautiful.
Thank you!
Lovely as always. Thanks.
🙏
Gorgeous words and visuals 🔥
Thanks so much! 🙏
This is good
Beautifully done. Simon Callow is wonderful.
We agree-he's phenomenal!
So deeply touching … I just listened to John Hannah’s recitation, and your masterwork came up. Different, somewhat drier, yet so deeply felt. I suppose it’s natural that the first reading you hear becomes your standard, and unconsciously all the others get … not so much compared, but put next to it. This recitation is quite different, and I thank you for offering it as another way of expressing the same sentiment. And the juxtaposition of Simon Callow and John Hannah makes it quite special. Thank you 🙏
It's interesting to hear him read it as opposed to hearing John Hannah read it in his honour as we saw in "Four Weddings and a Funeral."
Nice catch on the role reversal!
Beautiful.
Thank you so much, Alexia! 🙌
Suddenly poetry comes to life.
That's exactly our goal-we're glad you enjoyed it!
beautifully read & acted, beautifully shot - another excellent video!
Thanks so much! We really appreciate it!
I think that this is fabulous and read so well.
Thanks so much! 🙌

He reduced me to tears. Wonderful
Well done.
Thanks so much!
This brought me to tears
Wow! 😂 Beautiful.
Some changes in the published version. Wonderful though.
Thank you! 🙌
Every time you upload a new video, I pray it's not the last one. I count on these videos to brighten up my days and they never fail to do so. Thank you.
That means so much to all of us on the Brinkerhoff team. Thank you for sharing! We plan to keep releasing our poem films for as long as we can, so we hope they continue to improve your days.
❤
Campbell was my professor at FIU!!!
Oh, my heart! How wrenchingly beautiful!
Not entirely accurate. Mr. Halstead is too precious. A sloppy history: Read Richard Holmes amazing essay in the Guardian about Shelley's death. Much more illuminating!
beautifully read, really enjoyed the city juxtaposition with the poem itself.
(I think the description is referencing a different poem, however)
Thanks so much! And thanks for the poem title catch 😉
❤
От Бродского !
He’s reading his own character’s eulogy from four weddings and a funeral.
