This barely hockey and these guys were beer league level for the most part. Glad to see hockey become a legit sport
Kayria was seeing double on that goal so he's just like "HEAD HURTS CANT SEE. SLAPPY TIME!"
Late 80's, my early teen years. Chargers was my first. Lol. 15.
Avs were up 3-1 in the 2022 Stanley Cup Finals lost Game 5 in Colorado and won Game 6 in Tampa to win the Stanley Cup. It was never a split series in the first 4 games.
Yet they gave fuckin Makar the Conn Smythe. Get outta here. MacKinnon by far deserved it that year.. And then Makar somehow gets the ‘24 cover athete after that. Yet Mack wins the MVP. Makar is so media over-hyped. He’s a defender than literally cannot even play defense. He’s just another forward out there but just playing on a line with Toews.. Mack was the clear as day Smythe winner, and Mack shoulda been on that cover. Not Cale Makar. I’m so tired of him. Mack’s been robbed a few times for quite a few different things. And by his own clearly inferior teammate makes it even worse.
Jagr & Barkov was a hell of a line. I remember those days (mainly because Toews was in his prime as well as Kane and the Hawks were a dynasty and I loved every second of it). I was 20 almost 21 when he came into the league, those were the days.
Who gives a fuck about casual non-fans that didn’t like this era, behind Gretzky, the greatest players ever pretty much all had their prime in this era. Sakic, Jagr, Lemieux, the list goes on. This is when the gnarliest fights happened and the toughest mofos played.
Glen Sather can suck it… Yes. He had over a point a game his entire career, gold medals, timely playoff goals and a cup. Doesn’t matter he had issues. Hall of fames aren’t supposed to be political.
You can thank the hot sexy Devils for this era.
I’m a loser baybeeeeeee so why don’t ya kill meeeee
The Devils, Lightning and Panthers style of play made the game nearly unwatchable.
One of the biggest reasons John leclair should be in the hall of fame.look at the goal production he put up in the dead puck era
I hope Paul Kariya skated by Scott Stevens after he scored that goal and let out a giant "FUCK YOU!"
I always wore my jock strap on the outside of my baseball pants. When I played basketball, I wore a jockstrap too. It kept the Spalding from bashing my dinger.
I didn’t watch much hockey as a kid but he was my favorite player. He was the man of the early 2000s
For me Starter has never gone out of style
I still have my San Jose pullover jacket I bought in '92
Kris Kross
Anyone remember the "myth" of pulling out the fabric inside the star to collect 30 of them you get a free hat lol
They still make great jackets
Last year,I found Vladimir Konstantinov Red Wings Jersey With Joueur LNH patch from the online thrift store, such a crazy deal
That's so sick
Stevens always turtled. Go watch.
Eh, good job bud!
expansion caused it. Teemu Selanne and Alex Mogilny had breakout goal scoring, along with everyone else. Jacques Lemaire decided to shut it down in this copycat league.
great vid
The dead puck era was so creative, just like early modern hockey. 1991-2010 was such a crazy time, butterfly was invented, hacek did what hacek did lol (love his style of tending) and Defence was finally seen as something you should put a lot of effort into. Than when things seemed to calm down players adapted and got creative and we got players like ovi and Crosby. Literally a wild time!!
Man I miss slapshots
Cool vid man, thanks for putting this together. I love watching highlights from the Wings-Avs rivalry.
This era was awesome. If a Canadian team was winning cups theyd call it the golden age. A lot of it is bias against the Devils who were smaller market team that beat up and was more successful than big ones
The best era imo.
No goal.
I rocked Starter gear for sure. It was ubiquitous at the time, and the stuff was so comfortable with vibrant color. The logo is incredible, even still
Video was done so well!!
Thanks!
Where's Hextall? Hextall lead Brodoeur? No mention? Were you alive during the 80s?
Peter Forsberg the 👑
Love your videos but Stevens doesn’t deserve all the hate he got in this one. Not even a penalty. Neither was lindros. He did what it took to win, and he won a lot
I agree with this. He was ruthless, but he played to win, and what he did was within the rules at the time
Lol no one thinks that era was a low point for hockey. good video though
Great video. I became a hockey fan during this dead puck era. I was a kid and didn’t know any better. I thought this was “hockey.”
I still have my Chicago Bulls pull over coat from the early 90s
The dead puck era separated the average players from the really legit players. I personally loved it for its defensive strategy and toughness. I don't think a lot of players we see today would have made the NHL back in this era.
Was just thinking about the NJ/Ducks game yesterday. Crazy. Kariya was my favourite player when i was younger.
I just went to a game about a week ago. It was fun, but not as exciting as it was.
I was in jr. high during the height of Starter in the '90s. I had a puffy red 76ers one.
I had the Hornets pullover jacket in the 90s. Also had a Cowboys zip up and hat
My favourite NHL era by far and my team is the Blackhawks
I bought a Starter Blackhawks jersey this year from the US. Unbelievable how comfortable it is.
good video dude, very informative and I like the footage gathered
I had hoyas
That Luongo trade ended up being brutal but Vokoun was a damn good goaltender.
