The Russians didn't have gas masks thay had to gab wet rags to put on their faces to try and stop the gas, for most it wasn't enough. The first trench no survivors The second some but unable to fight and would die a terrible death Germans gave them a mercy kill. But The men in the reserve Trench their where enough to able push the Germans back. (mostly with fear but the weapons help as well)
