I haven’t done a puzzle in this style but I am drawn to puzzles with mixed patterns like this. I’m trying to vary my puzzling by doing one out of three images full of patterns (like an Anton Seder collage) and the other two are a more traditional design or illustrations.

A beautiful jigsaw Puzzle, I really enjoy your channel, it's relaxing, informative and you have tips and tricks on how to solve a big puzzle. The motives and brands are nice too. I am newbie to solving jigsaw puzzles, started with a 1000 pieces puzzle, the "owl autonomy" from Bluebird puzzles and is half way through, it is hardere than expected but I'm enjoying my new hobby 😊

I’ve watched a lot of puzzlers solving circular or mandala or grdient puzzles, so my first instinct would have been to solve the round center piece first and then work outwards. I’m not sure I could have completed the puzzle from the right working as you did :-)

My last puzzle La Jardiniere (Cobble Hill, A Gardener’s Calendar, 1000 pieces) shares a lot of qualities with your puzzle. I’m currently collecting Art Nouveau and Art Deco type puzzles. I’ve learned that there was a strong Japanese influence on Art Nouveau and then Art Nouveau in turn influenced some Japanese artists. My puzzle was also in a grid representing 12 months and straightforward to sort. I think you would enjoy it.

A few months back I listened to a TH-camr who does a lot of traditional vintage puzzles of the type many would call “boring” - photographic landscapes for the most part. Apparently they are often much more difficult than today’s puzzles either because of the image or the quality of the printing or pieces. I think it’s not. Bad idea to mix things up a bit to avoid getting in a rut.

Well you certainly have a varied collection of puzzles to do. Some of which look to be very challenging. Interested to see that you have a W H Smith jigsaw as that is a British brand. That one certainly travelled a long way. I shall be interested to see how you get on with those puzzles you showed us.

How do you tell what year the ravensburger puzzle was?

Oh my goodness you have your work cut out for you... the gold one and the wave one looks like challenges...I dont even know what to say about the Rosetta Stone one... . Please do videos of them finished.... and a review on how hard they actually were...Good Luck to you

Well Hello... your videos just popped up on my feed... I have watched a couple already.. I enjoyed them .. I liked the limited amount of time lapse... I have no interest in speed puzzling but enjoy watching it especially the competitions.....I am from the US.... I have subscribed to your channel and I know I will enjoy more videos...Ravensburger is one of my favorite brands.. like you that image does not spark my interest... I loved Land and Sea by Djeco. I have not heard of that brand.. loved the image but yes the glare I would of not enjoyed.... Happy Puzzling....

Good puzzle that, I shall be interested to see if Ravensburger produce another one, Italy perhaps. With competitions you have to accept that you may get a jigsaw whose image is not one you like. As I don't enter competitions I can choose whatever puzzle I wish. The one exception is the BOTYP one which is run by DonnaLouise from For the Love of Puzzles. Usually twice a year. I just do that for fun.

I love to assemble busy puzzles like that! You are actually correct in saying to pay attention to the details and the backgrounds, it makes it so much easier. I am working on a Colin Thompson puzzle right now - Grandad's Locker - 1000 pc...so much fun! Thank you for sharing John! Is the brand Goliath? with Wacky World being the series?

Your approach was similar to mine but you finished it much faster than me 😅

This is what puzzling is all about. Looking at the image and deciding what is the best way to tackle it. Full flip before doing anything, pick and place, isolate blocks of colour, do the edge first, partially or leave it to last. It's whatever strategy you think will work for the image to get it done quickly. Your time was very good for that image as it was fairly busy.

Hi John. I hate to criticize but it's so hard HEARING you. I've checked 3 videos now and it's the same thing. You need to invest in a microphone. I'd love to watch your videos but it's too much of a strain trying to hear you.

I absolutely adore Sherlock Holmes- tops my list of “favorite reads” list. SH is my most re-read fiction literature. I’ve lost count! So of course I assembled this puzzle and loved every second of it! Delightful. I enjoy your videos! (By the way, Charles Augustus Milverton was actually killed by a woman who was victimized by his blackmailing. Holmes and Watson “witnessed” the shooting (concealed) but Holmes did NOT actually kill CAM).
