Breaking Away from ISO 100 (and Why You Should Too)
ISO 100 Isn’t Always the Answer: When to Raise Your ISO for Better Shots
You’ve probably heard it a million times: “ISO 100 for the cleanest shots.” But guess what? It’s not that simple! In this video, I’m breaking down when to use ISO 100, when to raise it, and why ISO isn’t the enemy some people think it is. From seascapes to handheld action shots, I’ll show you why boosting your ISO can often save the day!
My name is Are Ole, and I make weekly videos here on TH-cam where I share tips, tricks, and inspiration for outdoor photography. If you’re into exploring nature and leveling up your photography skills, hit that subscribe button and give this video a thumbs up!
Key Takeaways:
ISO 100 is perfect for long exposures and controlled shots, especially when you’re locked down on a tripod.
But in the real world? Higher ISO often saves you when you’re hand-holding or need to freeze motion.
Noise can be cleaned up in post, but you can’t fix a blurry shot!
Modern cameras handle higher ISOs much better than you think, so don’t be afraid to push it when needed.
Until next time, get outside and stay creative!

    Stepping away from ISO 100 can unlock more creative potential! Higher ISOs let you shoot in lower light and experiment with different textures and effects. Don’t be afraid of a little noise-it can add character to your images!"

    Indeed. So far I’ve been taking my photos as much as possible in base ISO but lately I’ve been thinking to experiment more with a bit higher ISOs to compare the results. Completely agree that noise is easy to reduce nowadays, but fixing a blurry image is almost impossible. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on that.

    I don't think it's a game changer. I know it's been around for awhile. I don't use it. I'm a landscape photographer and I also do portraits. Sorry for the thumbnail, I don’t belive it’s a matter of one thing beeing right or wrong , just a matter of personal taste, I prefer the back button, but I have seen your photos on IG and they are great , so whatever you do clearly works for you, but I think beginners might benefit from trying it and making up their own mind if they like it or not

    Good review! How does the stabilizer behave? There are many reviews that he is weak. What is the shutter speed at 400mm? Thanks!

    • @AreOle_photography
      @AreOle_photography 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I would say the stabilization is quite good, when pared with the IBIS in my Sony A7r iii, but in low light I use a tripod. And if I shoot handheld at 400mm I would probably use at least 1/400sec for sharp images , of course it’s not as good as the Sony G master but for the price I think it’s a great lens, I use it all the time, my most used lens the last year
