The Born Too Lates - A Little Wooden Man
I whittled a little figure
of a little man
but I could make him dance
n'he couldn't give me romance
so I cut off his little hands
I kept him a secret, ah, yes I kept him nigh
held imprisoned by my thigh
and he spoke not of the night
and as my heart was filled with violence
he grew quieter with the silence
he had no bones blood breath or skin
not quite a homosapien
suddenly it dawned on me
he had not a tear in his eye
no I couldn't make him cry
though I tried when I told him of my strife
h'got so comfortable 'round my knife
I then took it upon me
to dig him a tiny shallow grave
oh, my little pocket slave
had given all he gave
now posies grow where he lay
ah, thank God for opposable thumbs
I'll whittle another one
I painted a portrait of the prettiest thing
and it's colors, they made me sing
but I realized it was him
with no expression, starin back at me
so I gave it to the salvation army
and they said that it was charming
and I tried to buy it back but they wouldn't let me
and now it sits on the shelf, dust collecting
h'said ,"thank God that I'm not a real boy
she never played with her toy"
