I have been teaching myself how to play piano for a little over 7 years now. Most of what I play is improvisational music as I have a hard time reading sheet music and I struggle to play from ear. Even so, I am able to play fun, interesting, and exciting music. I stream my improv piano on Twitch Monday through Friday at 2:00 pm PST and at 1:00 pm PST Saturday. I try to post these hour-long streams here on TH-cam.
In addition to playing the piano, I also use my improvisational skills to compose music in an app called Logic. These songs take longer to write and revise but tend to sound better from the extra time combing over it, however, that also means you'll see less of them. When I compose songs in Logic I will post them here on TH-cam as well.

Was just getting ready to play piano..and saw this..dont stop! Keep playing!!❤ i almost recognize the song. pleae tell me the name 🎶 Thanks!!
that first song was improvised based on base line of Pachelbel Canon in D transposed into A minor. You'll find this and very similar cord progression in tons or songs (Which is probable why you recognized it). I have been messing with this set of notes a very long time so I have a lot of practices messing with the tune.
you are really good at the piano bro!! wish you good luck!!
Thank you! 😁
This is so freaking good, keep up the good work!
I'm glad you think so! There's always that moment when you're playing and you wonder if the song will come out any good... It's usually fine and there is always tomorrow anyway 😁
keep up your content is so relaxing and cool.
I'm glad you enjoyed it! It really makes it worth it to know there are people listening.
I love your videos bro. That piano is beautiful.😵💫
I'm really glad you liked it. This day was a lot of fun to play! 😊
bro this is amazing and fun to watch keep this up don't give up 😸
Yeah, this has been a really fun project. I had done something like this around the beginning of 2023 where I played through 1.20 Minecraft (I think) and beat the dragon with a piano. I used a second program to do the input at the time. Anyway by the time I was finished with that I was glad to have had the experience but was also glad it was behind me. So this being my second time around combined with I'm a lot better now has made this so much easier and fun. sorry for the long reply 😅
class, pls
Are you asking for me to make a video showing how to play music?
Manda ver cara! Vendo do Brasil 🇧🇷
I think it's cool that people watch my videos all over the world.
Hi! You play beautiful music. I’m not sure if you’ve been told but the style of your playing is called “show mode”, When you only use the white keys. I used to play improv piano just like this. Keep it up!
Thanks, I haven't heard of “show mode” but I'll look it up. I've never really know what to call how I play other than that it's improv.
Iiiii like it, greetings, Bobby
I like these streams too. I'm always impressed by how adding these backing tracks really fill out the sound. Greetings to you as well.
Yeahhhhhhh 🎹
I'm glad you liked it 😁
Man, you are really cool!!
I'm glad you thinks so! 😁
Hi! I saw this by the algorithm so, thats a good sign, try to make thumbnails for more interesting content, i dont tend to click on videos like this but, you're really talented so , keep up the good work man! i wish you the best :)
I do see a bunch more views on this one. I don't really know what triggers the algorithm to value one of these more than another. You're right about the thumb nails not being very good but since I put one of these out a day (which also messes with the algorithm for good and bad) I can't really make a custom image for each so I'm mostly left to the auto generated ones. I tend to be a choice between the piano view and the face view but those choices only appear after the whole thing loads so I have to remember to come back later which I tend not to do. That being said I'll see what I can do. Thanks for your commit on this! 😄
A lot of it sounds like the American Idol contestant who gets up and tries to start singing a really complicated song but they just don't have the chops to back it up until it comes off sounding off key and it's kind of what this music sounds like it sounds like it's almost there but it's not hitting all the notes
I certainly push the limits of what I can do. It's one of the ways I get better. As I said in the video I was crossing many different key signatures, time signatures, and tempos so the transitions are rough but I think the song segments them self's are pretty good. If you could point out an area I should work on I would greatly appreciate that. It can sometimes be hard to tell what I can improve from my side as I'm fully self taught and can't read sheet music very well. Thank you! 😁
@@ninjakittyc4 well it seems like you and I have a lot in common when it comes to playing speaking for me at least I can come off sounding like I'm okay and people tell me I'm good and I may have 1 or 2 songs that I've played that sound really awesome but the rest of it quickly gets old and I even grow bored of my limited abilities on the piano that's because I never really took the time to develop the talent to turn it into an actual skill I just wanted to learn enough about music and the language of music the to create my own music but I always thought I could just teach myself and be okay and I know a lot words in the musical language to create something that's kind of cohesive but I am not fluent enough in the language of music to really start writing musical poems and stuff. I need to know more and I need to train myself more and become a better pianist and listen to teachers then just to sit down and try to Powerhouse my way through it, because I think I've taken myself as far as I can. I think now I actually need to sit with other people who can work with me to make me the best of who I could be at it and I believe that's kind of the point you're at as well you've got the talent you got to drive in the ambition now it's just time to sit down and find tube that with somebody who can actually help you learn the language of Music fluently and help you learn how to what you know of music and turn it into something cohesive and makes sense and it all and doesn't sound like little bits and phrases mixed together that don't make sense but they all kind flow together like a nicely written story or something like that
For the most part it sounds like your just banging on the keys
I suppose this day was a bit more experimental and learning focused then other days, so if you don't hear the good in there yet that makes sense. I'd recommend my stream were I play all of my songs as one song: th-cam.com/video/a-N56ZXVX6w/w-d-xo.html And it's fine if my music is not to your liking, there is a lot out there, go find something you enjoy 😁
@@ninjakittyc4 bro I owe you an apology I'm sorry I said the negative things that I said to you I feel ashamed and embarrassed for my behavior even if I was correct which I wasn't 100% the way I did it was awful and and I'm really sorry
@@CrazyHomelessWeirdo Totally good. I'm just glad someone commented something 😄
@ninjakittyc4 yes I posted things up online cause I like to write and for the most part it is like posting in a private corner no one knows about as opposed to what you hope for the lucky golden ticket where your stuff goes viral over night and the world is in love with you by morning
hi
Hi 😁
Magnifico
I'm really glad you liked it
@ninjakittyc4 hey let's chat I like you we share a lot in common I play paino and am self taught like you maybe we can together help each other grow to be the best we both can be. I love music like you do and I also write poems.
this goes hard bro. don't stop playing!
Thanks!
Yeahhhhh
☺
Iiiiiii like it
Me too! 😁
keep it up
Thanks, I will 😁
Niceee
yeah-sss
Keep it up!
I'll try. I was testing out a bunch of stuff in this stream. That's how we learn new songs.
This guy's incredibly talented, keep it up dude
I'm glad you think so. I do wonder occasionally; imposter syndrome and all that.
The youtube algorithm has done it again (also your outfit is absolutely iconic lol)
Yay, the algorithm gods have smiled upon both of us this day 😋. Also thanks for stopping by!
nice
Glad you liked it
Incredible
I'm glad you enjoyed it. I have a lot of fun playing with the backing tracks
you should do ome tv or monkey improv videos
I LOVE your music!♥ Sublime! 👍🏽
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoy it. 😄
Beautiful ! You are Heavenly talented ! 🙏 How did you learn to play like this ? Please tell us more about you! I'M newbie, would much love to play like that ! Magnifique! tutorials would be fantastic .Thank you for sharing your amazing talent 💐 🇨🇦
I'm self taught though I learned the basics of music theory by playing the cello in school (aka there is scales and chords). Mostly I've just practiced and messed around until I found what sounds good. I've never considered making tutorials but it might be fun, most of my early songs were etudes so I'm sure they'd be good to share. I specialize in improv, if that's how you want to play I recommend you learn what chords are by looking up video's online that talk about them, copy the basics of sets you like, and try basic random notes on the upper hand. You can also try the reverse, make a simple tune of 2-8 notes (if that's too hard use tunes like twinkle twinkle little star)(you can also play with timing on them) and play them while using a single finger to play one note at a time in lower part of the piano to create a drone. Simply adding 1 note worth of drone is enough to make a tune come alive, however more can help. The rules of music are complicated so as you get better you can break them and rebuild your understanding. Lastly, remember that like writing your capacity to write music is connect to your experiences of it. I recommend you learning lots of songs others have written or at least listen to tons of the type of music you want to play. learning new songs gives you those skills to use in your own songs. I don't know if any of that is helpful but the most important thing is to love to play and share music. That desire can carry you along. It's a good feeling. You won't learn over night but you can enjoy playing simple things. this explanation might be helpful too: th-cam.com/video/0-sXAqgP5KE/w-d-xo.html happy playing 😁
@@ninjakittyc4 Thank you so MUCH for your infos, Yes I watch tons of Great tutoriels and bought many courses, also have PRO Keyboards, But i need to BE more consistant in practicing cause I am born in 58 lol memory megs are low😂 I Love 70 hits, but also really love your soul up lifting music and I have not seen any tutoriels of it. Discovered Steve Wingfield on stingray that i listen all the time. Always be Grateful for your Amazing talent 🙏💟
@@fotoalive I'm not totally sure but I think a lot of that up beat music starts with a good swing and a driving lower hand beat. One of my first introductions to minor scales was a jazz riff which I morphed into the c minor scale with a swing (no blue note). To this day I still use c minor / e major and swing mostly though these days I play lot in d minor and a minor too.
are you worldofshirts
No, never heard of him but assuming you mean WorldOfTShirts then I concur after googling I vaguely look like him. You can tell we are different because I have a birth mark on my left cheek.
very cool :D
I'm really glad you enjoyed!
Your playing is lovely! It's been so nice listening as I fall asleep, thank you for making this <3
I'm glad you liked it. I was completely wiped out after this stream so it's good that this one was worth it 😁
Great job!
Thanks!
Heyoooo it’s been a while!
It has. Good to see you around 😁
Keep going
I'll try! 😁
I really liked this one a lot. You are getting better and better. Kitty 🐈⬛ is cute ❤
Thanks! I really enjoy music that makes you wanna groove so it was about time I learned the Boogie Woogie. The backing lines are always fun to play with as well. I too like the cat btw. 😸
good
thank you
Fantastic ❤
I'm glad you liked!
You are getting better and better!!! ❤
I'm glad you say so since it doesn't always feel that
Excellent as always ❤
I'm glad you liked it 😁
Great ❤!!
I thought this one was pretty good too.
That’s a really interesting synth sound! Sounds like it’s got a phaser or a resonance lfo going
That intro sound was my "Voice of the Bot" preset that I put together. I don't actually get to mess with the setting of my synths (so I don't know much about them) but I have a large selection and I can play any 2 at a time. This one was made of the "Talk Mod Lead" and the "Mouth Lead." It's one of my favorites combinations.
@@ninjakittyc4 nice!! Talk boxes seem to have some amount of resonance on the filter from what I’ve seen
HEY HEY HEY ITS 4/20 TODAY!

Tocas muy bonito el piano ya me gustaria tocar como tu :)
voy a traducir pa'l ok :) "You play the piano very beautifully, I want to play like you do :)"
Gracias - I'm glad you enjoyed my music.
Hola
Hi
Your style of playing is extremely impressive. I’m not sure if I’ve asked you before, but do you play by ear or have you studied music ?
Sort answer I'm self taught. Long answer, depends on where you want to start: I've tap danced for 14.5 years which gives me beats and the feel of the music, I played the cello for 5 years and learned the basic of music like scales, after that I dabbled in piano on my own through high school (~4 years) and started streaming right after where I played a lot more and got much better (~2.5 years). So I'm self taught but I've had a foundation that gave me a lot of help as I started to make sense of music theory. I wouldn't say I play by ear though since I can only sorta listen to something and then play it, hence my skills primarily fall under improvisational piano.
@@ninjakittyc4 Well that certainly explains a lot and thank you for that. Being able to improvise-well, is apparently a highly creative skill set. Since I am a self taught piano player, and do not know how to read music, I can often spot others who are able to play very well in a non conventional way. I really enjoy the way you play and the emotional vibe that you have when you do. Keep up the great work ❤️
