My name is Lucie Klaassen and I'm the founder of Heart Connected Horse Training. Horses teach you to be fully present. If your attention is not 100% with the horse in this moment, you will lose the connection.
I think there is not ONE method that fits every horse and rider. Every horse is unique so I do a lot by intuition and feel. The horse will tell me what he/she needs…
I am a Squire in the Academic Art of Riding , a certified instructor in Straightness Training and Centered Riding, EAD coach
(Equine Assisted Development) and Masterson Method Certified Practitioner & Instructor.
To connect with your horse, you need to connect with yourself first, so breathing, awareness and body work are an integrated part of my life and my lessons. That way, I can offer a holistic approach.
I give international Body Awareness workshops and Balanced Rider & Horse clinics and have had the pleasure of teaching in 13 different countries all over the world!

Relaxing together
Do you know what is one of the most rewarding ways to find true connection with your horse? Spending non-demanding time, just relaxing together and let your horse be a horse.
Benefits for both!
Your horse gets to CHOOSE whether or not to interact with you, which builds true and authentic bonding, and YOU get to take a well deserves rest from your demanding life😊. What a perfect way to spend the day!
Watch as we unwind and both horses check in with me in their own way. Seni comes towards me in a very confident way and Jajão is approaching me with more gradual steps.
How do you spend quality time with your horse? Let me know in the comments!

Spook trail 👻
มุมมอง 954 หลายเดือนก่อน
I took Jajão for a trail ride. We started nice and relaxed, but he usually gets faster during the ride. Sometimes he suddenly stops when he sees or hears something, other times he still gets a little bit spooky. I love how his ears flick back to listen to my encouragement that all is good🥰 I was just filming when he spooked but we got home safely😎 #trailriding #horsebrainhumanbrain
2 Parts of training
มุมมอง 984 หลายเดือนก่อน
I believe that every training, no matter what discipline, consists of 2 parts: First and most important it's about trust, connection and communication. Second comes the physical aspect of your training. This clip is from a video that I created in 2019 for True Connection, a foundation groundwork course. I did not know about the Polyvagal Theory and the Window of Tolerance back then. However, lo...
What an amazing experience!

When Rozenn was visiting me, we worked on my book together in the morning (Rozenn created more than 50 illustrations!) and we played with my horses in the afternoon. Watch how I invite Jajão to come to the mounting block, or rather, how he voluntarily comes to me. All I needed to ask was for him to turn his butt😄. After mounting, I ask him to halt and go backward, based on my energy and seat an...

Proper way to help with trailer
มุมมอง 1414 หลายเดือนก่อน
Jajăo followed me into the trailer but just as quickly he backed out again. I never try to stop them so they can walk out if they want. I will also never close the bar before they can stand in the trailer in a relaxed way. When a horse starts to ‘paw’ on the ramp, a lot of people tell them to stop doing that. I allow it as I see it that the horse is investigating if it is safe. Very often, afte...
Everyone needs Borders to feel safe!
มุมมอง 1224 หลายเดือนก่อน
Now this horse used to nibble a lot. He would take everything in his mouth and try to get the pieces of carrot from my pocket🙄. So when playing at liberty, I explained to him about my personal space. Setting borders is very important, especially at liberty. I always say ‘Clarity with softness’. See how he is standing now in front of me, looking around in a relaxed way and not trying to enter my...
This is just so relaxing 🥰

Feeling stressed? Watch this video and just feel your tension melt away when you take a rest with me while Seni is watching over us ♥️ I like to take a rest in the field with my horses. I usually work behind the computer in the morning and go to the horses in the afternoon. I love to just lie in the grass and watch my horses. Very often, Seni will come to me and stands with me. When Jajão wants...
Wired 4 Connection, Polyvagal Approach to Horse Training
มุมมอง 1.5K11 หลายเดือนก่อน
When my horse Jajão came into my life (the scars on his body told his story), I translated everything I learned about the Polyvagal Theory and the Window of Tolerance to make him feel SAFE and regain trust and confidence. See how helping him go through all states and emotions create openness for connection and learning!

Just bought your amazing book these videos are amazing thank you
Thank you! Happy to hear my book resonates with you😊
I love Fresians, and ALL black horses! I don't know why. Even as a small child, I thought the black horses were the most beautiful of all.
What great friendship. If tried that here in north Texas I 'd be covered with chiggers lol
What a sweet horse.
Heel funy
Amazing I love your contact with your horse
He is a brilliant boy🤓I love how he moves his lips as if he was talking to you. Adorable 🥰
Fabulous! So nice to see. You have a good contact with your horse.
Yep!!! He's telling you : "That's the spot Lucie 😂a bit more please." And then he mumbled something I couldn't get 😅. That's how precise🐎 communication is.
Just precious!
Absolutely! <3
WOW! Best video I have ever seen re In-hand Shoulder in! Lucie is such a great teacher !
You are such an inspirational lady ❤❤
OMG, 😍 I love it
Wauw geweldige beelden!!
Thank you😊
Just beautiful ❤❤
❤❤❤ thank you so, so, so very much for explaining the difference of classical groundwork and In-hand work❤❤❤. I been searching for classical GROUND WORK for at least a year, but always ended up with (often No-so-classical🤣) in-hand videos/ trainers etc. I think I might have found the right avenue to help my pony from the ground WITHOUT a bridle❤❤❤
It is so moving to see someone working with animals in a kind, gentle, and respectful way. Thank you. I am a practitioner of the Trust Technique and the work looks very similar.
Absolutely magnificent connection and mutual respect. This is how it's meant to be. Thank you so much for sharing Lucie. Cheers from Silvana from South America Uruguay
Thank you Silvana🥰.
What a beautiful relationship you have with your horses. Thank you for not giving up on this wonderful creature. They are so much more than we give them credit for. Riding is just one small part of the joy of living with horses. ❤❤❤
Gorgeous!!! New subscriber here ❤❤
Lindeza..Saudações..BRASIL..🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷💯💯👍👍👏👏👏🙏🙏👍👍
Any tips on how to teach this with a horse that doesn't naturally wants to lie down to roll?
This is beautiful Lucie, on so many levels!
This effectively mirrors my experience with an explosively frightened little pony stallion, named Charlie. <3
It’s a long road with enduring struggles, but the out come when inner work is respected is an incredible gift that keeps on healing for positive changes & quality of life. 💛🐴
Love the energy & connection between you both ❤️
Almost made me cry❤
Me too ❤
Supergaaf!! ♥
Wow, that is very cool! Thank you for sharing! Well done Seni and Lucie 🦄❤️
Thank you 🥰!
I just found your channel, thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing your knowledge! I am focusing on groundwork and in hand work with my OTTB who has kissing spine. I need to learn and improve my skills so I can help her develop correctly! Thank you!
Thank you for your warm words 🥰! It is often a horse with a physical challenge that brings us to a different path. Enjoy your journey! I have a 6-month course coming up about teaching all Lateral Movements in groundwork. Most people have learned how to ride a horse but never how to educate a horse from the ground.
Wow
Great Video Lucie, when you're teaching the shoulder in and doing ground work in general, do you like to position yourself in the AAOR groundwork position facing the horse or the Straightness Training triangle position, more at the horses inside shoulder facing forward? Many thanks
Thank you Paul! I alternate both positions. The shoulder position is the easier place to ask for bending and to 'talk' to the hind legs. When walking backwards it is easier to 'catch' the outside shoulder when the horse is drifting out. Personally I prefer the shoulder position as it's easier for me to walk forward than backwards 😊
The horse got that lightskin stare
How is shoulders out not haunches in?
Aw cute!!
I have to ask, how did you also video this? Both hands were holding horse. It almost looks like you're filming it too!
Yes, I'm filming this as well, with a selfie stick 😊
I can feel every part you tell, thank you so much
I’ve got a horse that watches me constantly when I repair things around the stalls, fences, horse trailers, etc. He always double check my work and lets me know when I screw up. Seriously.
Adorable. The horse gets it!!
Nice and easy explained!
I have referred many people to you from all over the world who are disillusioned with dressage
Thank you Erin❤! Everything becomes easier and more beautiful when you can work with your horse from a heart connected place🥰
The meeting of the minds, love it
Good and clear explanations. Thank you :-))
Learning more about "why" we teach our horse a specific lateral movement like haunches in is so helpful! You explained this well. Thank you!
👍🏻👍🏻
Love this. Your approach is so loving and gentle. Thx for all you do.
Thank you so much I look forward to taking your courses this year
Thank you! You are of course very welcome to join my courses, looking forward to seeing you in there😊!
super explanation, thank you
Thank you! I will be posting other videos about Lateral Movements soon😊!
Wau. Thank you very very much for this video. I was looking for something like this - dynamical, sententious, many information. I am looking forward for more videos.
Thank you Dominika for your nice comment! I'm planning to do a video on haunches in soon😊!
I like this video very much.
Thank you Minna🙏!
