These fish still jump into the boat to this day or they contained?
The mini miner........i love it when the kids are interested
I cannot wait to see Neil my grandson s are of age to go there. 😊
I can't say for sure how the USGS sensor gauges depth, but it's probably not exactly voodoo, when you have a tiny little transponder on your boat that reads the depth instantly lol. That's wild, I had no idea the water was that deep there.
Just saw your other video about how much you love the wabash. While I will agree it is historically a big deal for Indiana. It's still a disgustingly dirty river. I grew up in attica which obviously is quite a few miles north of terrible haute. My dad when he was young used to race boats on the wabash even. However I was always warned to never get in the water. One because of how grotesque the water quality was and two because of the strong undercurrents. My dad actually as a child lost a friend due to drowning. It's really sad actually that so many places dump so much into the river. As well as all the agricultural run off that adds to it. I've spent a little time out on the water on my jet ski. I refuse to put my boat in because there is so much debris and rocks from trees and limbs to car parts to old tires to old appliances in the water from north of the Paul dresser bridge up towards what we locals call the green iron bridge. Theres just so much and because of changing currents and so forth you just never know. I've heard a ton of stories of boats ripping the engine clear off the transom or busting a prop. Now on the positive side. There are some good fishing spots along the river here in attica. Around the supports for the Paul dresser bridge and the train bridge as well as the old supports still in place from the train bridge that collapsed. Another fascinating thing we have here is a island that makes for good camping if you can get out there when the mosquitos wont carry you away. Theres also a ton of fresh water oysters to be found in certain places along the banks and we would use the shells to make necklaces and so forth. The biggest issue we have here is the pollution. First and foremost the city of attica drains its streets strait into the wabash. Harrison steel has two big pipes that dump God knows what into the river as well and on some days the smell is awful. Also our sewage treatment plant is right beside the river and altho the water is treated you can still smell the raw sewage.... I'm assuming Lafayette does the same thing. I have driven my ski from williamsport all the way north of Lafayette. I doubt a regular Boat would make it because in places it's to shallow. The next big thing that would really benefit the river is for the entire thing to be dredged out and cleaned. Anyhow thanks for listening to my complain. Keep up the good work my friend
I totally want to go next summer
There's a video where Kevin Orpurt explains how the Flow-meter measures the water depth. He was in the same spot you are. The river was so low in the video the guages weren't under the water.

Good job baby
I live right next to the bridge, lived here all my 46 years..
60ft? When the water level is 1.4ft? Your depth finder must be set in inches
Wow i thought all that spot was deep...
There has to be a way to EXTERMINATE these darned Carp.😠

Intriguing video. Have been finding these and watching these on TH-cam for educational purposes and have found they are also great as a relaxation method. As a river, creek & stream neophyte I am curious about where in the video Otter ended and Wabash began. As an uneducated guess, I’m assuming somewhere around the 9:15 mark? Also curious about how many miles approximately were traveled over this 12 min or so video? Sorry if these are dumb questions. If the answers are in your description no need to reply as I am going to read that now. At any rate, THANK YOU for posting. Be well and thanks again for sharing.
Do you recommend this mine? Thinking about heading up to that area.
So much amethyst near Thunder Bay! Looks like you had fun!
Awesome video! I have fond memories fishing the Wabash near Williamsport and Attica. Even though I didn't live nearby when I visited with my parents and later as an adult, I always found time for the Wabash.
I grew up fishing those areas 2 down in behind c@d batterie
I bet that deep hole has some big fish
Great experience. Thx
Very Nice!!!

Saw bigfoot on r side bank around 1.58. No shit dude ck it out no shit. Unreal wow!!!!!!
Allow me to be the first. I think the Wabash River during the wintertime is picturesque. Even more so when there is snow on the ground. Thank you for taking us along and seeing the sights as to which many people of the counties do not get to do. A hidden treasure that is in plain sight. Pop Quiz: Do you know where the Nine Mile Island was located in Vigo County? Do you know where it is now?
absolute fake no legs are moving neither the claws
It was heart breaking watching that I watched it go up and I will miss that place I spent half of my life there, and as the fella said about the fishing I caught some big fish in the discharge flatheads and many white bass.
Brendan, I can't believe how close that carp came to your head! LOL
i live in terre haute indiana and now the river is really deep and and the water is nasty
That place was a great spot to fish when winter hits, hot water kept the fish on feed.
So sad to see this go. For 6 years I supervised as many as 300 people that worked 7-12 shifts, for months at a time at this station. As they say though, nothing stays the same.
This is funny
Excellent video of a well loved area place in Indiana. Every Oct., a Fall Festiva ,is held in the town which is also tied into other area Festivals about old times and many old preserved covered bridges. Attended these many years. This video was done in 2014 and came up as a memory today which I was happy to see. Sent it on to relatives who used to live on this area but who have lived out west for many years now. It's just...so very well done....
What would you say the overall health of the Wabash River is on a scale of 1 to 10? 1 Being terrible and 10 being pristine. And if that's not a fair scale since "pristine" would be before any tainting by industry and such I'd love to hear what the best possible scenario is in this day and age :)
4 but idk
Good video, Brendan. I lived in Terre Haute for the first 24 years of my life and the river was always there, but I don't remember anyone really focusing on it. It was very interesting to hear how deep it is in some portions. I never would have thought, at the reduced level when you recorded this, that there were still portions over 30ft deep. Thanks!
I've fished the Wabash for 60 years. I've seen 60' there and a few 40' areas from 9 mile to 63 bridge.
just seen this while on youtube . this is tony from cycle club you had. time ago. I have rc, drone videos also, exe. you have a lot of good videos.
HI Tony!
ive seen the hole lot full during last week as courts are at 8:30am and 9:30am mondays are slow , tue/turs are the days when they are full
is this the deepest spot in the Wabash?
Very cool
Would have loved to see that video! Loved your Bridgeton vid. We have property not far from there and am concidering a DJI as well to video our woods. Thanks for the great shots.
