Model of Housner Rigid Rocking Block in SAP2000
มุมมอง 5594 ปีที่แล้ว
Rocking behaviour in buildings can help to reduce accelerations, deformations, and forces during earthquake events. In 1963, Housner created the first mathematical models of rigid rocking blocks as he sought to explain why tall, slender structures survived the 1960 Chilean earthquakes while seemingly more stable reinforced concrete structures suffered severe damage. core.ac.uk/reader/33111828 O...

What can you use (for free) if you don't have acess to SAP2000? I'm doing a school project and want to design an eartquake proof building, but with the calculating part, I don't know where to start without having to use a software that costs money. Any tips? I would greatly appreciate it. Awesome video btw.

thanks for such a nice video..but i steel did not understand how we convert time-acceleration (earthquake data) to accelration-period (design spectrum)? Becouse earth data comes with time and time converted to period...in this particular transition what formula we use? have any video to explain pls or planig to make such a video? thanks

Thank you for your useful video. I have one question,at 1:41, about the element subject to the axial force P at two ends. According to your tutorial, any slanted cut have shear stress but normally there is no shear stress and only compressive or tensile stress in an element with two axial forces at two ends. Could you please explain this? Thank you.

28:54 Initial value skipped is set at 2, maybe that’s why it messed up the displacement plot.
