I graduated basic in 1980. I loved everything about the Air Force. I retired after 20 years and got a job with an airline and made big bucks! The retirement benefits are fantastic. Go Air Force ! I still remember my MTIs Sgt Sloop and Sgt Walls.

When I pulled EC duty one time we had the full bird stop in. When he approached the door to leave, ( I assumed he was leaving) I called the dorm to attention. He also came to attention, thinking the general was on the other side of the door, which he was not. He wasn't too happy about taking a command order from a trainee and I quickly realized my mistake and put the dorm at ease.

An additional thing with food I learned from general life; in the hotter months, make sure to salt any and all foods that will allow for salt. You are sweating and losing those needed electrolytes every minute you are outside.

Back in 1989, we said , "Sir, Airman _________ reports as ordered". We were not called "trainees".

Back in the 80's I remember the graduation marching formation and Sgt Evans was so mad at me because the Bus Driver hat did not fit because he said my head was "Charlie Brown shaped" and I was going to ruin the whole damn thing for the flt. He hid me in the center of the formation thank god.

I got my BDUs in the first week. We weren't rainbows too long.

Three glasses. In my squadron it was one of two glasses of water or Gatorade a third glass of something different.

I’m sure things are much different now than they were in 1983 when I went through BMT, but on “Lackland’s Law” I respectfully disagree. I was the “first”, I was the “best”, and I “volunteered “ and I was not “invisible “. I was a 5ft, 90lb Airman, scored 98 on my final academic test, aced the Confidence Course, aced the physical fitness, aced the Teamwork and was THE HONOR GRADUATE for my Flight.- I think you are misleading recruits. I hope future recruits see my post.

I didn't want to comment but you want to get recycled, leave that security drawer out and a mti comes in, boom automatic recycle, had my best friend have it happen 20 years ago. It's a security violation they will not ignore.

Just signed up 2 days ago! Taking the ASVAB next Tuesday, then MEPs afterward. Fairly nervous, but I'm nervous about a lot of stupid stuff 😂 I can't wait till I ship out, should be early September. This video was so helpful, and I'm 100% sure I'll watch it more than once before I leave.

Just graduated BMT. I had the disneyland dorm. passed the 5WOT with over 90 points. Still no honor grad but thats ok. In addition to getting recycled, i have had a few trainees get recycled for medical issues. In regards to EOC, you need 70/100. I got 94 STILL DIDNT GET HONOR GRAD!
