u shud always separate the art from the artist- both the "good" and "bad" ones. if we suddenly found out Shakespear was a pedophile, would u stop admiring the work? of course not- thats childish.
Your absolutely not wrong about that at all. Thank you for the comment and listening to the podcast hope you enjoyed it.

Thanks for listening and saying it's 🔥
Ughhhhhh you guys nailed it for me 💖. I feel like the execution was…weird. A lot of placements I didn’t understand, especially in comparison with where other people were placed; there wasn’t an equal standard for everyone. It seemed less like ranking content and more like ranking PEOPLE based on personal preference. Which is fine, but let’s just call it that and not make it seem like we’re trying to promote community wide ‘growth.’ The only reason I wasn’t totally put off by it is because I do think it genuinely wasn’t meant to be mean spirited. I was ready to throw hands over Tsukkinotes tho 🙃. We all have people who’s content we like and don’t like. That’s fine. People want to grow and change. That’s fine too. But I really hope this doesn’t become a trend because I could see it as something to prevents other people starting channels, and I could see it having a more negative impact on smaller channels. Great discussion 💖💚💯!!!
I think alot of people were ready to throw hands about Tsukkinotes lol that was the one person I actually didn't know about. Now I gotta go check them out. But we do totally agree with a lot of what you said. We hope it doesn't effect the community in a negative way. Thanks for taking the time to listen.
Listening to the line in the sand part and thinking, “oh God, what have I done?”
This was a great listen thanks guys.
As someone who has been canceled twice and has had mangatube beef I recommend try and avoid for your own sanity lol 😆
Thanks for giving it a listen
@@otakuologypodcast Good Advise, thanks for that.
Great episode! Good stuff right here
Thank you for listening!
Hey guys, I've been listening on Spotify so I'm a little late but, it was cool hearing about how you guys met. I just found out that 2 manga people live near me, it was kinda crazy after alll these years of feeling secluded. As for mangatube talk, yeah I really don't care, I'm a mangatiktoker now.😂
Hey your not a little late your just on time lol. Well that's cool 2 is better than none. Are you gonna try and meet up with them in the future? Ps thanks for listening we gotta get you on the pod one of these days.
@@otakuologypodcast idk, maybe at comic con here, but I don't have any plans. They're both girls so I don't want to impose and look like a creeper. Yeah I don't know I don't have a way to do it
The paedophilia issue isn't more prevalent in those who are mangaka's, it just preceived as such because their occupation gives them more notoriety then lets say, a grocery store clerk, or a mechanic or an accountant. But it very much is socially normalized and brushed under the rug and not spoken about in Japan. But again to believe that it's much more extreme over there than it is here is also a false narrative. It is very much normalized to not notice child exploitation here and to start perceiving that it's not prevalent in our society when it very much is.... "There are more than 42 million survivors of sexual abuse in America. (National Association of Adult Survivors of Child Abuse) 1 in 3 girls are sexually abused before the age of 18. (The Advocacy Center) 1 in 5 boys are sexually abused before the age of 18. (The Advocacy Center) 1 in 5 children are solicited sexually while on the Internet before the age of 18. (National Children’s Alliance: Nationwide Child Abuse Statistics) 30% of sexual abuse is never reported. (Child Sex Abuse Prevention and Protection Center) Nearly 70% of all reported sexual assaults (including assaults on adults) occur to children age 17 and under. (Children’s Advocacy Center) 90% of child sexual abuse victims know the perpetrator in some way. (U.S. Department of Justice) Approximately 20% of the victims of sexual abuse are under age eight. (Broward County) There is worse lasting emotional damage when a child’s sexual abuse started before the age of six, and lasted for several years. Among child and teen victims of sexual abuse there is a 42 percent increased chance of suicidal thoughts during adolescence. (American Counseling Association) “More than 90% of individuals with a developmental delay or disability will be sexually assaulted at least once in their lifetime.” (Valenti-Heim, D.m Schwartz L.) “There are nearly half a million registered sex offenders in the U.S. - 80,000 to 100,000 of them are missing.” (The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children) “A typical pedophile will commit 117 sexual crimes in a lifetime.” (National Sex Offenders Registry)" I'd link those sources if I could but TH-cam would just yank my comment if I did. It's not an issue enjoying certain work/art that is made from someone who turns out to be a predator. The reason why it's more of an issue with still deciding to buy their work/art after the fact is that you're financially supporting their pedophilia fetishes such as them affording them the ability in buying CP. That's why it's an issue because it has real material consequences.
Great podcast!!! I love this guest... oh wait it just me ☺️
My views on digital and physical manga is if it’s IN print and has been published in English I won’t read it digitally and will buy it physically but if it’s a title that hasn’t been published in English yet or it’s an arm and a leg to buy I’m reading it digitally 🤷🏻♀️. And yeah there’s a bunch of oop titles and popular new titles available digitally but it’s something about being able to have that manga physically in your hands and turning the pages that makes me feel so warm and giddy inside 🤣 (5:24 exactly!).
Yeah most definitely true I agree with the Physical manga. It's funny I actually just lost all my digital comics from when Amazon merged with comixology. And I'm trying to get them back.
The problem here is separating allegations and guilty. Allegations do not always equal guilty and that's how I answered the question on Instagram. Let's be real mangaka going forward will have their manga cancelled when they do gross things which in turn will save everyone the question of buying the manga. Obviously I would never buy a manga from a mangaka who has had past guilty doings like the Ruroni Kenshin guy. However allegations will never be absolute in my head, I want to know they got caught or found out, that's why I say it's a case by case problem. I do own act age, and yeah I'd say that's my only weakness, act age as a manga is tragic especially for the artist, glad she's doing oshi no ko now.
No yeah most definitely there is a difference that's why everyone is innocent until proven guilty.
I actually just sold To The Abandoned, I felt like it had gone off a while ago and I wasn't going to be satisfied with it going forward, that I was only continuing with it to see how it ended and sell it then, saved myself the money. But it is really good, I do feel bad about stopping it because it was a connecting work that I always talk with you two particularly with about, but I want all the manga to be good from front to back, I don't want to get to a part and say in my head "now this is the part where it drops off" I'd never read that part
Well every story has its high and low points quality wise. I personally haven't finished it a good chunk of its in my tbr lol its ok you sold it off I personally don't think collectors need to hold onto something they only somewhat like you know.
I also kind of remember Justin picking it up. Glad to see you guys enjoying the series. I must say the cover looks cool. However the title doesn't really appeal to me. I think that's the case for me. Hope you guys are well
Idk I think if you gave it a shot you might like abandoned Sacred Beasts 😏 Justin was a pretty big pusher of the manga back when it was first coming out I do remember that. For the moment we are both doing good just been working hard on the podcast and living life. 😁👍

Far as the fight. The director mentioned that had to cut & edit some stuff to make it more PG because Taker & New Day really went after it, didn't hold back, and it was more ruthless. They toned it down.
