Today i took out my custom, by many called the ‘Edbox’ 🤩
My trailerwave board. Its super compact, strong, light and very unique cause noone else in the world has it.
Back in the day, 11 years ago, I asked the flikka guys from slovenia if they wanted to built me a board exactly like how I wanted it. It was an out of the box concept which they never made, combine that with my name Edwin, the Edbox was born haha Ever since, its my favorite board.
It has zero repairs, still has a hard deck and ive never been holding back on the board. I honestly think if it was a production board, it would atleast allready had 20 repairs and 5 broken boardnoses. Its still going strong after so many years. It could only need a fresh paintbrush though.
I can use the Flikka Edbox from wavesails 4.0 upto 6.2m2. Might play with the fin sizes a bit, along the sailsize but most of the years ive used them with 2x 16.5 xtwins aside and a 15.5 xtwin trailer in the middle. Feels very skaty and alive for a 103liter board. It turns really tight.
Nothing compared to for example a goya/naish 100/105/114l their much stickier then my custom flikka. This board works best i think in small to medium waves, choppy and messy circumstances In bigger down the line waves, it works well too but then id rather be on a quad down the line kind of shape with more lenght.
If i need a more locked feeling, have to sail upwind a lot, i changed to the maui ultra fins x-twin-R fins. As they have more grip and control.
This saturday, the 7th of december 2024 It was a cold, rainy day. The wind was on and off but managed to have some fun on the water.
