Thanks for the video. They did it at night because they've been working on the crash site 24 hours a day and they're trying to get the runway back in service as quickly as possible! As a buyer of airfield lighting I know from personal experience that the replacement of fixtures isn't an easy or quick process. The manufacturers don't keep these things on the shelf and build them to order most of the time. I think there will be more repairs to the runway from the impact as well.

This video is even better than the last one. Did you know that the California 95th CST unit was at the crash site? I mention this because these 57 Civilian Support Teams are dreaming up messed up exercises like this. g perezcapo, Thanks, I will try that. I am not a facebook, myspace, twitter person and I'm not too knowledgeable on the pc. I was referring to the youtube download box that is usually up above the comment section. I have Quicktime player. Back on topic of this great video. I have seen video from either ABC or NBC news on the computer that shows the plane being removed in 2 pieces. This one looks like they got it all in 1 piece. I don't know why they had to do it the dark, what are they hiding?

Apparently from 0:57 to 1:07 the separated back third of the fuselage is destroyed, ending in smoke.

I was wondering the same thing... looks like it happened after the excavator was done piling debris up? Maybe a purposeful controlled burn?

What caused that smoke at 1:06 ?
