Motorcycle Odyssey

We, Sue and Steve Joordens, are two relatively normal older people who love to ride our motorcycles. Rather late in life, we have discovered the joys and challenges of riding motorcycles over longer distances, and renting motorcycles when we travel. With this channel we invite you to come ride along as we share our adventures, what we have learned about riding, and perhaps a little "psychology from the saddle" :). We hope to encourage some of you to live your adventures, be they on two wheels, or whatever they may be. Life is short, die living.

I have to laugh. On my trip across Canada on the way west, I remember the wind was so bad just outside of Winnipeg, but before Regina... it was a cross wind that made me lean the bike on an angle to keep the bike straight. Also, the wind buffeting was horrible torture and it was such a shock when the wind was blowing in the same direction as my travel and suddenly there was quiet riding for a few miles, as I was in a wind tunnel... anyway keep two down, ride safe 🙂

Hi, Ive been following your cross Canada odyssey and since I did the same route in June-July of 2022, I get what your going thru! Same weather, cross-wind, and crazy truckers😐. Ride safe, watch out for wild life and of course, that gravel🤐🙂
Thanks! We're actually back home now (just) ... the videos are coming along behind us :). It was truly an amazing adventure with lots of challenges ahead at this point ... but yes, that was a hard day!

I think that curvy country road is OUR ROAD!!! If Kurt is one of them "Cobble Beach" people and you were heading to Wiarton then the easiest path is through Kemble village then on to Concession 20 which turns into Grey 17 and goes through the twisties ... if you had turned right at the village and driven 10 seconds, you would have arrived at our place. Great to see you two back in the saddle ... hope you can find time to visit us on the rebound. And as a former Triumph/Moto Guzzi rider, let me commend you on your choices of rides! Stay safe 💗

Thanks heaven you are both save… we send you guys loads of 💕 love. We were focussed on construction work in the new house of our oldest daughter, more or less disconnected from the world. Now home and online on a soaking wet day… time to sync with your motorcycle adventure… and just now became aware the accident. Stay positive and get well soon Sue, hugs from Holland, Bob

You did good to get them home bud. Ken did you a Solid, your lucky to have such a good neighbor. Glad your both home safe and sound.
Good to be home, I guess ... and yeah, Ken made things so much easier. Could I have lifted my bike alone? Maybe, maybe not ... with Ken it was easy and all went so smoothly. That meant a lot after the two days we had been through!

I'm so sorry for your bad luck, I am sure you guys are bummed about having to cut the adventure short. You gave it the "Good Old College Try". I know you guys, you will finish the trip eventually. Tell Sis that I hope she is feeling better soon. I will be looking forward to your next video to see how you got yourself out of this mess and back home.

The area where I work and live is the Rocky Mountain National Park, trees, lots of green, some real cool lakes and plenty of Elks wandering around🤠 You and Susan be safe,

Thanks! Resilience is certainly critical on such adventures. You are often left to just deal with what you get, find your way through to the other side. You practice that over and over, and its the practice that makes it part of you.
It was awesome getting to ride to Grand Falls with you guys. I wanted to ride with you longer but the weather was not cooperating. I hit the rain on the way home as it was. I see you guys hit the rain before you got settled into your B&B. Thanks again for letting me tag along for a short part of your adventure, It's always fun riding with you guys. I wish we could do it more. Ride safe!

I know you said we show up to see Sue and that's true, but we all show up to see both of you bud, you're family man! Thanks! We were a little set back on that day, but as you will soon see (once I produce some more episodes) we bounced back, learned, and the odyssey continued and will continue to .. errr ... continue :)

I was certainly dancing with my fight/flight reflex all day ... with respect to dude who wanted to chat, it was less about his feedback (he wasn't very interested in us, more in telling us all the things he did), and it was more about feeling Suze and I needed some time to digest the challenges and plan a course forward. But yes, I certainly know what its like to not welcome feedback! :)

Ha! Your Dad likes to have pizza with random traveling transients? :). Honestly, I'm not sure if our path goes that way ... right now the focus is on the Cabot Trail, and from there to PEI. Actually our focus now is getting off of the Rock. We loved it, but we're ready to get on the other side of this nasty ferry trip (no cabin!)

Always a drag when camera issues keep disappointing. How big are your SD cards? Keeping a lot of days riding on one card is always a risk. You will still have the memories no matter what. That's the important thing.

Back in those days (seems like forever ago) the weather was hot hot hot!! Then cold and rainy .. but in Nfld we've had mostly good days and just some cool nights. But yes, the scenery!! Wait until you see Gros Morne! :)

Thanks Pete, so many devices and such to manage, but these videos will be our record of the trip for us, and for our grandkids (who we hope will care!). Yeah, having the heated gear working will be key for the next few weeks given the forecast, and that we're headed essentially North East into Nfld. We still hope we might ride a little a with you on our way back through, but let's see what happens! Feel better bro
