MO weather is so crazy you never are sure if you’re gonna be so cold your eyeballs freeze or so hot your undies sweat. I’m a Missouri grandma who hunts , fishes and has done trapping too. Deer stands and duck blinds. I can endure most any weather but what I can’t tolerate is the amount of hunter harassment or trespassing that’s been elevated in the last few years. Especially the trespassing squatting folks in some parts of our property. I think a grizzly bear is less scary than finding out you have a trespasser upon your property. My mom made venison stew. She would use what she called the back strap. She would slice it up, season it really well with salt, tenderizer, Accent (msg), and a lot of pepper. She would dip it in flour and fry it up and put it on a paper towel to drain. Then she would put new potatoes and carrots into a crockpot. She would make Vidalia onion gravy (I miss it!), put the venison on top of the veggies, and pour the onion gravy on top. She would add a little water to cover it and cook it all day or night long, making sure the water stayed good. We would have it over rice or bread. Sometimes over her mayonnaise biscuits. 🤤😋 So good! ❤
