Yet another of our entries at this years Montagu Youth Arts Festival 2024. Choreographed by Nathan Bartman and Ciara Baldwin. The dancers were happy, I was happy, the audience was also happy. Well done dancers. They received a Gold Certificate at the festival.

Our youngest dancers performed in this piece choreographed by Nqaba Mafilika. It was one of our entries at this years Montagu Youth Arts Festival 2024. Nqaba Mafilika choreographed this piece for Lakhiwe Salman who performed it at this years Montagu Youth Arts Festival 2024. I received a Gold Certificate. Well done Lakhiwe.

Choreography initially began with Lihle Mfene on one of his home visits and then finished by Nqaba Mafilika. DSA performed this piece at the Centre Stage event in August and it was a big success then. It was then performed at the Montagu Youth Arts Festival 2024 and received a Double Gold Certificate. Thank you dancers for putting so much hard work into this dance.

Nae Nae was choreographed by Nqaba Mafilika and was another of our entries in this years Montagu Youth Arts Festival 2024. The kids are once again showing there enthusiasm and joy of dancing and for me that's job well done. They received a Gold Certificate at the festival.

This must be one of my favorite pieces ever. I am amazed at how the young dancers managed to perform such a mature work. Nqaba Mafilika choreographed this exceptional piece based on his own experiences of life in the Zolani Township. To music by Maurice Ravel and it received a Double Gold Certificate at the Montagu Youth Arts Festival 2024.

Bare was choreographed by Ciara Baldwin and Nathan Bartman 2 years ago when they came to do a dance intensive with Dancescape SA. Originally performed with the Zolani Youth Choir. As we didn't have the choir this time we adapted it and actually got the young dancers to sing a little and then the dance was performed to live drum played by Alakhe Zothe. This piece received a Gold Certificate.

Performed for the first time at this years Montagu Youth Arts Festival. This piece choreographed by Nqaba Mafilika to music by Pyotr Illych Tchaikovsky is from the Sleeping Beauty Ballet. Our dancers received a Gold Certificate.

Choreographed by Lihle Mfene and Nqaba Mafilika to the music by Jeremy Zucherman. Performed at the Artscape Opera House in the Centre Stage production alongside 19 other dance school situated in and around Cape Town. What a wonderful opportunity that will remain in the memories of all the dancers for some time to come. Thank you young dancers for your work and an amazing performance.

Another spectacular piece choreographed by Nathan Bartman and Ciara Baldwin. Our former students, Phelo Prince Ngxukuma, Thimna Ndwe, Milisa Mathiso and Chuma Mathiso danced to song by the Zolani Youth Choir. I was so impressed at how they had matured over the previous year whilst attending the Jazzart Dance Theatre program. Many thanks to all of you.

Another piece performed in January 2024 at the time of Kristine Elliott's visit. This piece was choreographed by Nathan Bartman and Ciara Baldwin who joined Kristine again as part of the dance intensive. Dancescape SA collaborated with the Zolani Youth Choir and the First Step Ballet. Always love the energy that Ciara and Nathan bring, thanks so much for this.

Goodbye Always is a beautiful contemporary dance piece choreographed by one of our former students, Phelo Ngxuluma. Phelo was a big part of our success at last years Montagu Youth Arts Festival 2022 where he danced and choreographed. He is now studying with the Jazzart Dance Theatre in Cape Town and we wish him all the success that he deserves. Thank you Phelo for choreographing Goodbye Always ...
