Wadaiko (Japanese drum) Experience
You never know until you experience it for yourself! So, after the interview (Please see the previous episode), I was able to experience a mini taiko lesson and even perform together with Mr. Taishi Yamabe who is a Japanese wadaiko performer. Don't miss a performance of Mr. Yamabe at a charity concert held in 2021, at the end of this episode!!

Meiji Shrine is essentially within Yoyogi Park, which you don’t mention. Takeshita Dori, the shopping street you reference, does not take you to the shrine. The shrine is dedicated to the Meiji Emperor, the Emperor who began Japan’s emergence as a modern and major global power. You don’t mention that, either.

Obviously the park grounds (this is Yoyogi Park?) are very beautiful. I gather that you have to walk a very long distance from Harajuku Station before you reach the shrine? Would it take about an hour? Also, do visitors get to see inside the buildings or can they only see the outside structure? Aya, I appreciate your help. Thanks, Ron

@@TriptoJAPANwithMe Oh you are welcome. It's rare to see people take Zen seriously and you're video truly honours the Zen tradition. I really hope there is a revival of faith in Japan. I am a professor of comparative religions and I have had a long love for Kobo Daishi and Dogen Zenji among other masters. I have never visited Japan so I don't feel it is appropriate for me to make statements that may be out of place, but I have been told that there is a crisis of meaning going on in the young generations. I pray the people of Japan find their strength in their wonderful civilization to share it with the rest of the world. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful culture.
