I replaced one on my 10th gen type r, was pretty easy and straightforward
Cut the dust shield. Problem solved
Or you can grind off the edge of the stud that is in the way but leave the grooved part intact. It will fit fine then and be perfectly snugg still.
Grind a dimple on the back side of hub and flatten one side of new stud it will fit I promise
This seems like the easiest way to get er done. 💪
Take your new stud put it in from the back side put a nut on the front side and use it as a washer and tighten it down and it'll pull the stud through the hole so it's flush on the back side capiche
That’s easy part and I have the special tool. The problem is No clearance to stick the stud in through the back of hub on these cars. Little bit more complex.
I had this same issue with a 2018 Ford Focus ST and I ended up having to grind a slight groove in the knuckle that holds the Bearing. Been working for 4 yrs no issue
Taking that hub off is the easy.
I used to work at a Honda dealer, we would make a tin snip “modification” to the shield to do the job 🤷♂️

@@Modus4i did this on a honda, but had to grind down the head of the bolt a bit for it to fit
@@tylerhogan73 nope, fixing an engineering oversight. We did the same thing for the transmission drain hole on the underbody air shield because it didn’t have a big enough hole for the transmission fluid to go through and would coat the topside with oil and their garage would have trans oil drips for weeks if we didn’t. It’s not ruining a part of it’s literally fixing a problem and the fix has no effect on any function. A 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch snip in a brake dust shield has literally no measurable effect on anything other than the time the repair takes. Would you rather add an hour or two to the repair time and bill over a tiny piece of metal you don’t need?
