a friend of mine did that with his habu and it worked out great. he cut out a section of the side of the nose for the vtx airflow and just mounted the cam in front of the cockpit

thanks-- that's the plan for the future, gyroflow was ran on these clips but it wasn't until after editing i realized the middle of the clips didn't process any stabilization at all due to a gyroflow bug with moonlight data (resolved in latest nightly). I just thought it failed due to EIS but that was not the case.

Yes, the video is the SD capture from the goggles and honestly it looks a little better in person than what the yt compression does to the video. There's a secondary capture in full resolution on the VTX itself, but it's a bit difficult to get to due to adapters needed to access and requiring a fan to keep the vtx cool while it transfers, much easier to use the goggles. The VTX also has Gyroflow, which I don't believe I bothered with using on this video as it was just a quick upload.

Analog is a beast and i flew with it several years ago, I just got back into flying a few months ago- Analog was snow, Walksnail interference looks like a 'fog' of sorts in areas with lots of movement at times, but it's rare and gets to the point i don't notice, if I get a low signal warning I just gain some altitude or turn around, the range and signal penetration is pretty amazing and does now what analog used to require ground-stations to accomplish.

@@tekmunki1980 Thank you for taking the time to respond and explain your setup... I have been looking at the Walksnail Avatar X Goggles and the DJI O3 airunit for a while now and comparing setups before i decide which way to go.... I did find some articles about the ''fog'' you describe also but even with that ''fog'' the images are so much better compared to what i have now...

The "fog" is by design to keep latency down and to be honest i don't notice it in the goggles often, or at all - TH-cam's compression makes it worse than it is in person. The image from the on-board recording is better quality, but does not have OSD info. I do plan on running a secondary GoPro style camera eventually. I did not run gyroflow on this footage as it was just a quick upload for some friends.

I wasn't feeling it except in instances of actual signal loss from the trees/pool cage at 1:33 for example; the YT codec is not very friendly to walksnail videos and the double-encode makes it look worse here than actual "in the goggles", the only other noticeable smear I recall was when the foliage got thick around 2:26 ~it was still flyable but a straggling limb could have been caught pretty easily bc of the smear- it's not common to see, which is prob why that moment sticks out in my mind.

ultimately, the elevator flap 'ripped' free mid-air, I could have 'repaired' the flap with some tape/glue but I decided to do it right and replace everything that got damaged from the crash- a cracked cowl and the entire tail.

yes, you can set a toggle switch on the tx to power them off, (mode switch in current build) or just unplug them when you don't want them on. Mid-day they're pretty useless.

It is in the current version of cleanflight, he actually added an LED tab since I did this that makes it MUCH easier to configure. When I set this up it was in the experimental build.
