Adventures in drywall patching - first time!
Previous owner had monkeyed with the kitchen wiring to put in an over-stove microwave. I removed that unit when it broke and for years had a makeshift backsplash over the gap you see and did without an extractor fan. Last month removed the backsplash and called in an electrician to finally get the wiring up to code. Next, to find the microwave of my dreams and install!

In honor of Burt, plus another late, magnificent bastard, Rik Mayall who stars in this radio play, here's a 2009 adaptation of the classic Galton & Simpson script, curated and introduced by Paul Merton. Burt doesn't officially appear in this play, although his name is probably spoken over 100 times!

They finally wrote Jake an episode to show off the rest of his languages! Except the Hindi he's learned as an adult (so that he can get roles in Bollywood films that are shot in London.)

The "Fancy living in Spain and not even BOTHERING to learn the language" is actually really accurate of how us Brits think 😅 When we live abroad we just expect everyone else to speak English, we are SO bad at cultural integration, yet expect it of everyone who comes to the UK.
Culture & language are not the same though, to be fair.
Speak for yourself, I’m English and I can speak 3 languages it’s just the lazy ones who can’t be bothered.

His german is actually really good.
From quite a young age he attended a boarding school in Switzerland. He's actually Italian by birth. Truly a European polyglot.
He was born near Zurich, Switzerland. His parents are from Italy. Maybe his German only sounded really good and not perfect because he had to speak High-German and not in a Swiss-German accent that he grew up with.
Hes french was pretty good too
