Anime: Gintama
Synopsis
The Amanto, aliens from outer space, have invaded Earth and taken over feudal Japan. As a result, a prohibition on swords has been established, and the samurai of Japan are treated with disregard as a consequence.
However one man, Gintoki Sakata, still possesses the heart of the samurai, although from his love of sweets and work as a yorozuya, one might not expect it. Accompanying him in his jack-of-all-trades line of work are Shinpachi Shimura, a boy with glasses and a strong heart, Kagura with her umbrella and seemingly bottomless stomach, as well as Sadaharu, their oversized pet dog. Of course, these odd jobs are not always simple, as they frequently have run-ins with the police, ragtag rebels, and assassins, oftentimes leading to humorous but unfortunate consequences.
Who said life as an errand boy was easy?

It's such a shame this show had to end, it's far and away my favorite piece of media ever. Most anime aren't really funny and have hacky comedy moments but when Gintama's trying to be funny i fuckin die laughing

Before Gin-San Kagura was pretty much a Yakuza errand girl who would do anything they told her to do. They would all take advantage of her like having her going out and collecting money and beating people up. But once she met Gintoki he literally changed her life for the better. It may not be the best life but it’s way better than she was living even the life after her blood father left them. But Gintoki pretty much took her in as is and cared for and raised as his own. And he treated her as not only a daughter but as a best friend, comedic partner who always joked and dressed up in costumes together. They all really love each other including Shinpachi. It’s just an anime/manga but the story really does kinda makes me smile by how Gin cares for her and how she cares for him as a family.
